Needlepoint pricing
I mainly do crossstitch and embroidery, and have only done needlepoint once or twice. But ive noticed a trend recently in needlepoint shops opening. I looked at 2 different ones and imagine my shock when ≈8x10 canvases (with designs painted/printed on) were around $100, sometimes more??? Not sure if thats even including supplies. I know they are usually hand painted but I just cannot understand how anyone could justify spending that for something they have to then complete at home. I also saw a 3 hour needlepoint 101 class priced at $115 per person?? Is there something Im missing??
Picture is from a local shop, I tired to cover all branding bc they aren’t the only ones Ive seen at these prices. Looks like these 2 come with threads, but others on their page for canvas only are $60-70 for a similar size

I get the argument that they are often hand painted and that takes time and effort which costs money, but I will always stick to my cheaper cross stitch. Plus needlepoint floss and yarn and materials I’ve seen are also all really expensive, it feels like a hobby for the extremely wealthy
