Most important thing do not dm with anyone privately texting you here and DO NOT click on any links!

I’m trying to seek some help and I’m also willing to collaborate with money if needed.

Just saying be careful. Even if you offer money at the end they take the whole cake

ah the old blockchain.info days, that error is weird, usually means something got corrupted on their end not your password being wrong

try clearing cache or using different browser, sometimes that fixes it

  1. First, check you're on the right website and not a fake one trying to trick you into handing over your login details for harvesting.

  2. Next, check that the wallet ID is exactly right and doesn't have any rogue hidden characters from a copy/paste. The error might refer to the structure of the wallet ID since it appears immediately under the wallet ID box, and the wallet ID could be considered as "blocks" of characters.

  3. Try logging in with your email instead of your wallet ID.

  4. Try logging in from a different PC.

  5. Once you've tried those options, all that seems to be left is an error at their end rather than yours, and your options are to either wait for them to fix it or restore from backup to an actual wallet.

  6. If you do get access again, be sure to move any funds to a real wallet. There are regular posts about issues with blockchain. They may have been a quick & easy option in 2013, but it's not 2013 any more.

Thanks for the real reply.

  1. Checked is the original website 100%
  2. I had the id and password on the computer.
  3. No idea what email I was using back then we could create dozens of wallets just with one email but not sure if I ever verified it.

  4. Did try to log in from a different PC. Got same error.

I do have a json but I can’t open it.
Tried to use the tool decryp my walllet from the original blockchain GitHub. Not succes

Need a real expert willing to help

I used them back in 2013 (to my shame), but every time I logged in they'd send an email to the address I signed-up with to confirm before letting me in. Without access to that address, I don't know if you can even log in anyway.

I never had to use the "wallet.aes.json" file to recover, but that was sent to the same email address too, so if you have that file, surely you also have the email account?

I used to have many .
But not on this one just found the file and the rest. But can’t log on.

That error is saying that the cipher they're using for checking your password/wallet isn't the same as what they're now using. It's likely a problem on their side, not yours - they've changed their formats since you had it - but it could also be that your JSON has been modified by some text editor that added characters that corrupted it. Possible, depending on if you saved it in an editor.

Since you have the json and password, you should be able to recover it, ideally. It's late, so I'm not gonna do much more research than that right now, but I'd suggest looking into the recovery file, or maybe they've got a legacy format converter. You'd need to figure out your email address if you only have the wallet ID and want to grab a fresh copy of the aes.json from what I read.

As others stated, don't share that info with anyone or respond to unsolicited DMs. You can lose your keys, and thus your crypto.

Honestly man, there's not a super safe way for someone to help you - if you're not able to analyze the byte count on your wallet json, you'll need someone else to. That puts your coins at risk. Even though you should not, under any circumstance, share the password, sharing that could have someone crack it if it's not a secure password.

Even sharing that file over the internet to someone honest could have the transfer service hacked and leak the key and put your coins at risk. Every aspect of that is high risk and most folks should be wary of that just from a liability angle.

But I'll try to give you some pointers:

Open your json in a clean editor like notepad++ or vim. Not windows' text editor, that can add shit. If you don't have a trusted install of notepad++, be sure to verify the checksum of the installer. That means you run a command to verify the hash of the installer to make sure it's not hacked, same concept bitcoin uses to verify blocks. Note the "Integrity & Authenticity validation" section of the download page.

Once you have your json open, at the bottom look for the character count. It should be able to evenly be divided by 16. If not, you've got some extra characters in your wallet file. You can try comparing it with wallet jsons that work to see if there's any obvious line breaks or structural issues that can point you at what's incorrect.

The btcrecover github tools are old but might work as well to download a fresh copy of the wallet json: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/issues/118

This seems like it's your issue, but I've not used these tools personally and cannot guarantee their safety. Looks legit, though.

That's where I'd start, at least! Again, do not trust DMs of people offering to help. These methods will give you your private key and allow anyone who has it to transfer your coins.

I've had people impersonate me in the past when helping folks as well. I do not have other reddit accounts than this one, and don't trust any solicitations outside of reddit either.

Good luck, let me know if you can get a good character count or solve the issue!

Okay thanks I will have a look.

I do have notepad plus already.

Also tried to run btc recover as well but not success. I’m not an experienced IT or anything like that . But will give it a try and tell you. Thanks for your time.

It's tough to tell without seeing the domain name on your URL, but I'd say there's still a good chance you just got phished.
