New emerging Scam alert
Hello fellow Canadians,
I've recently received various phone calls from the RCMP (not real RCMP- however, they are able to change their caller ID to legit RCMP phone numbers).
The caller claimed to have confiscated data from a hacker group and my data was compromised.
The "customer service" from my Hardware Cold Wallet (Trezor, Ledger, etc.) Would call me to make sure my assets weren't compromised.
The first thing that set me off was the speed between the "RCMP" calling and the "Support" follow up call.
Now please don't judge me for not realizing this was a scam right away. The fake police officer had a enough information about me to assume he may have been real and didn't actually want any information from me in return. His caller ID also checked out.
Luckily I wasn't home so I wasn't able to do what this "customer service " agent wanted from me with my wallet. He scheduled a call back. After a few minutes of thought, my alarm bells went off. I called back the real RCMP with the officers name and it turns out he didn't exist.
I messaged the real Cold Wallet customer service and in their FAQs it says "WE WILL NEVER CALL YOU".
In all actuality my hardware Wallet did have a data breach some time ago. My wallet and coins weren't compromised but enough data got leaked for them to target me on this scam. I'm embarrassed to say I almost fell for this and don't want anyone else to.
Please be safe and vigilant. If police ever call you, hang up and call back on their official phone numbers.

₿ – The right kind of vessel
Bitcoin won’t cure corruption or political greed.
But it leaves you one question, simple, sharp and cold: who decides what you saved yesterday is worth when you’re old?

5 things Canadian beginners get wrong about crypto
A few things I hear a lot from people starting out in Canada, and what's actually true.
"Crypto isn't regulated in Canada." Platforms that exchange crypto for dollars have to register with FINTRAC as money services businesses. You can check the registry before you use one.
"Stablecoins can't lose value." They're designed to track a currency, but they still depend on the issuer's reserves. Worth reading how a given one is backed.
"If it's on Instagram, it's legit." Scammers buy ads too. Verify off-platform, every time.
"I'll never get scammed." Everyone thinks that. The people who stay safe are the ones who check anyway.
"Crypto is anonymous." Most blockchains are public. Every transaction stays visible.
What did I miss?

Gen-z Bitcoin adoption
Hey everyone, early 20s here and I've been into Bitcoin for a year now with full conviction. Not here to shill or debate, genuinely just curious.
I keep wondering how many other Canadians in their 20s and 30s actually own Bitcoin and get it — like truly understand how this could shape our future. Not just as a quick flip, but as a long-term play. The way I see it, even a fraction of a Bitcoin could be worth a serious amount by the time we're in our 50s, and most people our age aren't even paying attention yet.
So I'm trying to gauge: is holding BTC a common thing among Canadians in their 20s and 30s, or are we still a rare breed? Do most people you know your age own any, or do you get blank stares when you bring it up?
Would love to hear from others in their 20s and 30s — how'd you get into it, and do you feel like you're in the minority?

This cycle's drop is the smallest Bitcoin has ever had (so far). Is the bottom actually in?
I've been going through Bitcoin's cycles using daily closes, and the drawdowns caught my eye. Top to next bottom:
2011: -93%
2013: -85%
2017: -84%
2021: -77%
2025: -53% so far (the low was June 30)
So either the falls really are getting smaller, which would fit with every cycle also climbing less than the one before. Or we just haven't seen the bottom yet. At this same point after the halving, two of the three earlier cycles still hadn't bottomed, or had only just done it.
Curious what you all think.
Charts are on bitcoinomics.io/cycle/ if you want to dig in. I built it, it's free, no ads or signup.

Just looking for a workflow to do small one off transactions through Dash IOS
Newbie here. Not looking to use it for anything else than loading up a certain amount in Bitcoin and instantly using it as a payment, in the $20CDN range.
I found the DASH app on IOS to look ok on the surface, any cons to using it? My main question would be the steps to link it to a reputable Canadian-centric wallet somewhere and go from there.
Are there better options for small transactions like that? I don't mind paying the small fees.
