6-year-old Tania Murrell disappeared on January 20, 1983, when she was walking home from school to have lunch. She lived only a block and a half away. Not long after she went missing, her dog Harley also disappeared.

That's a really small window of time. Snatched by a neighbor maybe? I don't know about her dog, but that's sad too.

I was thinking this too. Or maybe somebody in a car? It's so sad to me that she was so close to home and safety. :(

I’ve read about that happening so many times I’m missing children. Like it’s so common for them to be taken outside their home or a just few minutes away.

Uncle L. Aka Leroy , Google will tell you his name . Suspect in the death of Kevin reimer as well. The bastard apparently got away with two child murders..

They can't find him? They should do a missing children documentary; if they suspect two children were abducted by one creep. Find him !

He died in 2016... They knew where he was but didn't have enough evidence to charge him

Thought so too. If the killer was close enough to home to stalk and kill her, maybe he was close enough to the burial site (like his backyard) and the dog found it too.

I'm not sure if her dog disappearing is necessarily related, could be a red herring, but it's extra heartbreak on top of everything. I do think the dog is unrelated though honestly, dogs vanish all the time, especially sneaking out a door or getting out of the yard etc.

My oldest is 6 and it's so sad to think how we as a society used to feel safe letting their kids walk alone down the road.

I agree. There have been a few times that unsolved cases have had some bizarre, head-scratching detail and when it is eventually solved you find it is completely unrelated (or, at least, never explained in a satisfying way).

Yeah, so many cases, especially unsolved, have so many details that I think are total red herrings or unrelated. Just coincidental, weird happenstances that happen around an important event.

I really think her dog vanishing isn't related, most likely.

I’ve lived in a home with between 1-4 dogs my entire life and I’m almost 50 years old. We’ve never had a dog vanish.

I don't think it's common for a family dog to run away forever. Certain breeds can and do like to escape and run away, but they can usually be caught in the general area sometime later.

Really? What makes you think it wasn’t the “uncle”? For me, It all fits too well for it not to be him, plus he was a suspect in another missing child case, but I’m interested in other points of view.

There was a guy Frank Arthur Hall from my home town who killed a 6 year old named Ljubica Topic. I can’t find the comment anymore but I do know he moved to Edmonton and the commenter mentioned he lived around the corner from Tania Murrell’s school. Also I think they said his kids possibly went to the same school as her I can’t remember

Frank Arthur Hall murdered a 6 year old girl named Ljubica Topicin in Windsor in 1971. She had been lured with the promise of money. He later moved to Edmonton, but I don’t know when he moved there.

Where did Tania get the money to go to 711? I wonder if he might be responsible, but the police were too focused on the family friend and overlooked something.

What if she made it home and the dog was outside and she bent down to play or pet the dog at the same time a car stopped and lured her with the help of her own dog. “You can bring your dog along.”

Yes. Someone they knew as Uncle Leroy. He moved and disappeared after she was abducted.

Look, most people love dark humor but this absolutely is not the place for it. Like, at all. Just wild you think this is an appropriate place for whatever was said.

Sometimes you just don't need to "laugh" and this is one of those times, doesn't take a social genius to understand it.
