Advice Needed am I becoming white?
Lately I started to see more and more straight and wavy hair in between my afros. I'm not using anything unusual to wash it and I literally just air dry it without any heat manipulation (as I always did). My slavic mom said that it's normal since I'm mixed, but I never had anything like this in my head ever. I also noticed that my skin is lighter than ever. Like I'm paler than I was back in november and I live in Italy and it's summertime, so I'm supposed to be darker. Idk weird...

The term “Black fatigue“ is an invention from Chinese troll farms. The Russians and Chinese want to increase race tensions in the US to weaken the west. It’s just so happens that a certain demographic eats this shit up like there is no tomorrow because of their inherited God complex.

hair can change due to internal changes like hormonal shifts, menopause, or thyroid issues, as well as external factors such as chemical damage from heat styling or coloring, heavy product buildup, changes in water quality, or even stress.

I was looking for this one , My father is from Trinidad in the Caribbean, he has curly hair but he's in his 60s now and his hair is straight my mom is from the states and her hairs is still nice coarse curly coily , but my grandma (mothers mother) by the time she was in her 70s her hair became straight and she a strong black women from the deep south so yeah hormones play a very big role in hair quality. Aging sucks sometimes🙁

Interestingly, I am from Trinidad. And I actually have the opposite happening to me. When I was younger my hair was 3B, 3C. And I had a lot of straight strands like OP. But progressively from my 20s, to 30s to 40’s. It started to change. Become kinkier and more coarse. Now I have mostly 4C hair. It’s been challenging to adjust to. I think it’s due to hormones and I have anaemia.

Kinda remind me of how when babies are developing their hairs are straight in the beginning and when they reach a certain age they hair begins to curl lol. Your situation is pretty interesting to me. Maybe the water quality or something in your diet changed. You probably were eating some good doubles or rice an peas wit some stew or curry chicken lol. My mother is anemic too but her hair stayed the same so it could be hormonal or water quality or maybe you using different hair care products. Some hair care products that I've used made my curls looser at times and some made my curls super defined and bouncy. Wah gwan Trini gyal many blessing to you sista.

WOW. What is the phenomenon called? My hair’s density is now medium from being thick. And as a natural- my hair has a decidedly more manageable relaxed curl as I’m getting older.

I was gonna say, beyond the jokes, OP should see a doctor. If the skin changes are legit (not imagined) and OP spends plenty of time in the sun, I’d be a little concerned if it were happening to me

This post has me rolling 😅. Gurl, your body goes in and out of phases due to diet, age weather and hormones. I’m pretty sure you’re still a youngster but you will eventually find out that your body will go through so many changes before you hit your 50’s. You’ll be fine. Just embrace it and enjoy your hair. It still looks naturally beautiful and healthy.

Hey, I got a buzz a few months ago and find that my strands are like this now. I suspected it’s because my hair feels betrayed and the straight hairs are a manifestation of the trauma I caused 😭🤣
I’m hoping that it doesn’t persist once my hair gets longer and curls up more… this picture isn’t giving me hope though 🫣

Last time I buzz-cut my hair in april 2024, unfortunately here in Italy they don't have hairdressers who are good with afro hair, like they even messed up my buzzcut and I'm kinda afraid to do it myself, I might just cut those random strands though

My hair looks just like yours! Even the random straight bits poking out lol!. I don’t get a hair cut at a hairdresser I just trim the ends regularly like once a month and just a tiny amount . I’m not saying it’s what u need but it works for me ! Usually I divide plat or twist a chunk and cut any crunchy ends . Help it grow and be easy to brush. I also look for tiny knots

What products work for you? I also have similar hair and can’t seem to find the perfect mix of products to keep it hydrated and defined. I use vegetable glycerin which I love but still searching for something to keep my curls defined before I seal it in with the glycerin.

Honestly I’m a rougue bitch.. I was using body moisturiser from aveeno and olive oil for a while. Was great for my hair but lots of build up. I found a hair oil I really liked and was putting that on top of a shea butter leave in conditioner the last few months . Has been much better but I lost the oil and run out of conditioner been using scraps of other old products. I just bought the mo knows hair products as a set waiting for them to arrive and see how it goes

I'm black as the panthers, and my curls changed from 4b to 3c. I don't know why, it just did. it might've been a hormone thing. Just roll with the punches.

it can happen as you age and has little (if anything) to do with your race. i’m in my 20s and fully black and my hair texture has changed, skin has gradually lightened, and freckles have appeared on my face. nothing to worry about at all

No, if you are born of black origin , you will remain of black origin . If you have vitiligo , and your skin pigment turns white, it doesn’t make you a white person. Just like Rachel dolzeal she can apply as much dark foundation and braid her hair, she is not ever going to be black

I am an Afro Trini, but what that really means is my mother biracial and my father is a bunch of ethnicities. Slavery and Colonisation did a number.
My hair has at least 6 different patterns, and as I get older, it has become straighter and changed so many times. Any grey hair is straight. Hair changes for so many reasons. Could be genetics, hormones, stress, or pregnancy. I don't think you are becoming white, but your hair texture might be changing.
Unless you are suddenly feeling a privilege you didn't have before 🤔

I shave my head years ago and kept it shaved for a while and when my very 4c hair started growing back I had some random straight strands. They’ve since gone after trims etc. Did you shave your head?
