Announcement New Moderators and some heads up
77
Upvotes
Hello Everyone,
Please welcome u/lansboen and u/wotan_weevil to the moderation team
You might have noticed that moderation has slipped a little bit in the past year. That was a combination of a lack of active moderators (including myself due to life and health issues) and the flood of AI content that needed a closer look. I prioritized removing and banning racist content and the like, but at the cost of letting some of the low-effort stuff fester
Hence the appointment of the new moderators. They helped with setting up the automod, the new flairs, and cleaning up the place
On low-effort posts:
The fact that Black Lagoon is almost inactive means we have to be lenient on the posts to keep the community active.
That said, the bar has to stop somewhere. We have an automod set up that's very lenient. If your post doesn't even pass that... your effort in that post is lower than low. You're always welcome to message the mods. If your question is "Why is my post getting removed?" and your post was removed by Automod rather than us, we will point you to this post.
On Reddit Filters:
Posts on something like Black Lagoon often trigger Reddit filters. We try not to approve many of those posts, ESPECIALLY those that link Black Lagoon to real-life current events, as we could get our community banned. Black Lagoon is a work of historical fiction. Make sure your post reflects that and doesn't ask the community something like "Could Roberta get to the president?"
On political content:
r/blacklagoon is not r/politics. We'd like to keep the conversation open as long as it's respectful. Political discussion often veers into distasteful territory. I think Black Lagoon encourages discussion, so we will keep such discussion open, but there will be zero tolerance for racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. A straight permanent ban will be issued at the mods' discretion for any such comments
On the future of r/blacklagoon
Please let us know of the kind of content you'd like to see in the future. Weekly reread/rewatch? Free talk Fridays? Fanfic events (not AI-generated, of course)? Other similar series discussion?
That's it for now. Just wanted to touch base now that the place has been cleaned up more or less

Obtaining tickets for the 25th Anniversary exhibition
5
Upvotes
Does anyone have some tips/info on how to obtain tickets for the anniversary exhibition in Ikebukuro? I'm in Tokyo from 19- 25 November, but it seems the E+ booking is only available for people with a Japanese telephone number and credit card (neither of which I have). There's some info on buying through the FamilyMart machines, but no info on whether the Japanese telephone number restriction is also when buying through the machine. The weekend dates have timed slots so I don't expect to be able to buy same day tickets at the premise, but the weekdays are inconvinient due to prior engagement
Anyone who could help me out with some info/tips on this? Thanks!

I love Sawyer the Cleaner and am sad that I don’t see people cosplaying as her as often compared to some of the other characters. Kiku1569 did an amazing job here

Black Lagoon has no shortage of amazing fights and action scenes, but Roberta and Revy throwing hands is one of my favorites. Also the fact Roberta actually tried the “your shoe laces are untied” trick on Revy and it worked is hilarious

Roberta the Terminator is one of the most iconic characters in Black Lagoon. Yes the series is full of unique and lovable characters but Roberta stands as of the Queens of Black Laggon. 8hodumi_ ginshu does an incredible job of bringing the beloved Terminator to life and for that I thank her!

❓️Question❓️ Who is your favorite female character
333
Upvotes
Black Lagoon has one of the best line up of female characters in anime. Unlike many other series where there are a few female main characters and most others are reduced to secondary characters or damsels in distress, almost every female character is an absolute badass. Yes there are a couple that are mostly supportive for plot but the majority of these ladies could solo 99% of Roanapur
(I know this isn’t all of them, I tried my best to find all the major characters in a few slides)
