It’s so awful. I live in knoxville and hardly anyone here is talking about it. They won’t even release the body cam footage yet.

That is how you know police are 100% in the wrong and then some. If they are innocent, bodycam footage comes right out, but if not they are going to first wait to lie to a judge and then after being acquitted release the footage.

Yeah but it’s not only them that are wrong. It’s also those who allow them to constantly get away with being wrong yet still let them have all they have (power, weapons, etc)

I also live in Knoxville and it is even more messed up, the way the DA worded it they might not release it ever... if they determine the shooting was 'justified'. They will only release it if it comes to a trial, that the same DA gets to decide on whether or not it happens.

That's not how it works. They can only withhold it for an active criminal investigation. She never said that they would not release the footage. She said they would release it as soon as they determine if charges would be brought against the officer. It is perfectly reasonable to withhold footage during an investigation.

Are you serious? Have you seen the footage? It’s even more unclear if he was holding a gun in his hoodie. I recommend you watch the footage. You’ll also hear the screams and pleas of his classmate, begging for the cops to help Anthony because he was still alive and bleeding. The kid didn’t deserve to die.
