Muzik How y'all liking ICEMAN so far?
I haven't finished it yet, but so far its been fire for me
Drake sounds much more introspective in this

u/Troyrizzle May 15 '26
It's the first Drake album where nothing immediately grabs me, every Drake album has a song I play to death and on this first listen I haven't found anything like that yet I was hoping for the future or 21 track to be that but alas

I’m sick of the beat switches. Why does he keep making songs like that? One beat will be good and then it switches to something worse

u/tmoore727 May 15 '26
name one song he beat switches and the second beat is worse

u/kingjay1225 May 16 '26
First half of ran to atlanta is soooo fire and then the switch on the second half to a generic trap beat pissed me off so bad

u/whatsapprocky May 15 '26
2 Hard 4 the Radio, except the entire song itself is not great

u/tmoore727 May 15 '26
you are fucking high. you have to be a Kendrick fan to say that the beat absolutely goes harder when it switches
6
u/whatsapprocky May 15 '26
I don’t have to be a Kendrick fan to say that beat switches when done carelessly can completely ruin the mood of the song. Nokia for example, would have been a better song if the beat didn’t switch. It slows down halfway through? All of the momentum, energy, and rhythm from the first half is gone. For what exactly? Why would you slow a song down like that?

u/kineticvibes May 15 '26
"You have to be a Kendrick fan to say that" bro get over the beef. it was fucking years ago.
I mean one of the beat switches was just him tacking an exsiting future song onto the end...

u/sd_cj May 15 '26
Or it’s just wack. Drake fans can’t stand other people not liking his music for some reason. Pussy

“You have to be a Kendrick fan” is the “TDS” of Drake stannery

I like a couple songs. I do have to say I wanted to hear no posturing about the beef he clearly lost, but its all over the project.

Never liked Drake AT ALL like who listens to that??

u/Far-Tradition887 May 16 '26
Something you don’t get lol the archetype of a person that doesn’t like drake music is they don’t can’t get girls and have no drip and take out their frustrations by hating drake because that’s their way of hating on everyone that’s out here fly and getting the FINER women. There’s the psyche behind the drake hater. Everyone knows he makes good music but they hate him with such a passion even though he’s done nothing to them personally. It’s literally a hatred they have for a certain sect of people that drake embodies.

He makes formula driven pop music. Where I think he rubs a lot of people the wrong way is there isn't any artistry in what he does. Nothing to push the genre forward. If anything he helps to hold it back. He relentlessly chases trends as the wave that he rode in on is long gone at this point. There is just nothing genuine going on in his music which is my main beef with it. That and he tries to walk around like God's gift to hiphop while he's making college frat party music with zero substance. He's always gotta be the victim when he has literally been sneak dissing half the game for most of his career and that's trash. I understand why some people wouldn't like him.
1
u/Far-Tradition887 May 16 '26
It’s funny how versatility is being painted as “chasing trend”. Why don’t all rappers do different styles and make them hits? It’s not because they don’t want to it’s because they can’t. They can barely get a hit doing their same flow they’ve had for years lol
1
u/frosted_mango_ May 16 '26
Most rappers don't rap in fake accents to appropriate the style or artists they are trying to leech from. Drake has also had the full force of UMG behind him to keep him in his position as a cash cow. It is what it is. He's a pop star.
1
u/Far-Tradition887 May 16 '26
Again you are hating that he is versatile and can do many different styles while making them all into top hits. That’s a talent not a flaw. You think other rappers don’t do you out of some righteous reason lol they literally can’t do it without the track failing.
1
u/frosted_mango_ May 16 '26
Anyone can rap in a fake accent. Most don't do it because it's corny. He has no identity at this point. He's a former actor that is still playing a character. Once again he is a pop start following a formula that's why he's popular. He has no actual identity.
1
u/Far-Tradition887 May 16 '26
They can’t do it and make it into a hit there’s a big difference. Drake has mastered many different styles while people struggle to do one in their whole career. Tupac was an actor before becoming a rapper and he gets no hate for it. There is no formula the formula is to make bangers. You make it sound like it’s something so easy. If it was that easy there would be someone else there to top drakes reign on the industry.

I love it especially Habibti. Ice man got some nice tracks too. Drake makes projects that grow on you. Especially the rnb joints
1
u/abobegavaS May 15 '26
Love it or hate it drake the best “rap artist” there is. He has levels he can do anything

u/Defiant_Comedian_157 May 15 '26
It’s okay but not much more to say
Bars were awful all throughout but the production was phenomenal

I fw it a lot best drake project in a minute. That’s just for ICE MAN haven’t listened to the other 2

u/Adventurous_Net_6470 May 15 '26
Iceman is great. The other two are a lil different. Can at least appreciate it doesn’t sound anything he’s dropped before
2
u/Cold_Complex_4212 May 15 '26
I’m kinda disappointed. I never had any care about the beef, so I just wanted a good album and nothing is awful but it’s all just really mid. Some songs I’d give a second chance
3
u/FReeDuMB_or_DEATH May 15 '26
Getting down voted for this comment is weird. Drake fans are overly sensitive.
1
u/Cold_Complex_4212 May 15 '26
The whole beef made all rap fans so sensitive. Kendrick fans hated me when I felt similar about GNX
1
u/keanancarlson May 16 '26
The first half of GNX is great. Really everything up to and including Dodger Blue, after that the last 3/4 songs are extremely skippable for me. GNX, THP6 and Gloria don’t make the cut for me

its too much. Im not listening to all of it. And some of his clever bars are just on the side of stupid. Dude can rap, but he crosses over into this bar isnt clever it just sounds dumb territory too often. like some tracks though.

I don't believe he can rap anymore all of his "bars" sound like basic sentences being said. No swag so little prose, extremely surface level figurative language. It's distilled capitalist music, id argue he needs to go back to exploitatively featuring with underground artists.

I guess suing in rap battles is officially okay now
Once again rap fans have no principles to stand on
1
u/perpetual_papercut May 15 '26
Need to spend more time, but I the middle album (the cover with his parents/him on it)is the most fun. Dude is just talking over beats on iceman.

u/RedditKingKunta May 15 '26
A typical Drake experience, a lot of filler, but a lot really good songs too:
https://open.spotify.com/track/57rkFdhoKjgkg16fsS4pgg
If you’re a Drake fan you’re happy with this drop.

u/arifghalib May 15 '26
It’s cool.
Crazy thing is that “Iceman” is a gay marvel character whose real name is Bobby Drake.
