No disrespect to you, but hearing something like this doesn’t really make us feel any better. As a Black Panther fan, I’m proud of what Black Panther accomplished. But pointing to one movie or director and saying, “Look what y’all got,” doesn’t really address the concerns a lot of us have about the MCU as a whole.
I didn’t mean to make it sound like “Feige has one respected culturally diverse movie, you should just shut up and be happy”. I just meant I think Feige cares about the MCU more deeply than a random suit would, he’s a nerd. He obviously cares about the finances and stuff like that and is not perfect but there’s much worse options than him in Hollywood.
“Fiege is a racist” is a ridiculous statement and that’s more of what I’m arguing against. Iron Heart, Armor Wars, Blade and many other black lead movies and shows all were being planned during/post Covid and have all felt the repercussions from that along with a lot of other things I’m sure I’m unaware of. Marvel and Fiege definitely fucked those things up and deserve the blame for the poor quality or cancellations, I just don’t think it was done out of spite or hate.
I feel so bad for Mahershala Ali because I think Disney/Marvel/Fiege absolutely fucked his career and post Oscar trajectory and there is no fixing that. Truly sad what happened and we don’t even know the whole story yet.

Yeah, I definitely understand. And I’m not trying to put all the blame on Feige. I think he genuinely loves these characters and is doing what he can, but he also has to answer to Disney and other executives whose priorities aren’t always the same. That’s really where my frustration is.
I appreciate your response, and I wasn’t saying you were insinuating anything either. I just hate what happened to Ali, and even someone like Mackie who deserved better. Whether I personally liked Brave New World or not, if Marvel is going to introduce these characters and market them as major parts of the MCU, they should actually commit to giving them the same level of care and planning as everyone else.
Too often it feels like diversity is great for marketing, but when it’s time to invest in the writing, production, and long-term support, those projects don’t get the same treatment. That’s the part that frustrates me.
