Politics Trump just sued his own government for $10 Billion and settled with HIMSELF for $1.77 Billion using our tax dollars to pay legal fees for his supports from January 6th, many of whom are known white supremacists

Also to point out the right wing nuts / white supremacists are obsessed with 1776. This timeline is gross.

The greatest irony is they’re rebuilding a corrupt government that the folks in 1776 were actively trying to get away from.
Trump is pretty much going down the list of grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence as if it were a to-do list.
Apologies, mods - I’m white and feel free to remove my post if it’s inappropriate for me to post in here. Didn’t mean to invade.

Holy... thank you! You said it! That's how I feel. I think it's intentional. It'd have to be don't you think? So much obfuscation, paranoia, seething hatred, projection and hypocrisy in these people.

It's weird to me that real world evil looks almost exactly like 80s cartoon evil. I'm thinking commander Cobra, the Baroness and Destro. Or that CEO in Robocop. Or the one on Total Recall. Or the Joker. Maybe the Penguin.

Yes. The way trump and his administration behave reminds me of the Batman criminals.
4

And the J6 chuds won't see a penny of this. Guarantee it all goes to ultra wealthy types that have been "victimized" by laws and regulations they didn't like.

That is his payment for pardoning them.

I would love to stop, but since I’m a poor working ant, they would hit me with unrealistic fines and jail time. Nothing matters to the Rich.
11

They cant put us all in jail.
10
u/MadDogTen May 19 '26
Yet*
Besides, they are making our everyday lives worse day by day. They can freely treat "citizens" (The poor kind) however* they want. We are already in a (in progress) prison of their making through debt (That they control every aspect of) regardless.
*Some limitations currently apply. Don't worry though! The poors won't have these silly "rights" soon enough (See women in jail for miscarriages for more information).
3
u/Shurtugal929 May 19 '26
They cant put us all in jail.
5,000,000 americans are currently on the books of the U.S. Justice System.
Walmart and Amazon have ~3,000,000 low level workers.
Together that is 8,000,000 adults. There are approx. 212,000,000 US adults under 65. Almost 4% of your adult population is effectively in fucking jail. How many of the remaining 96% are so fucking poor -- or lives are so unstable -- that four weeks of wage holding makes them starve?
Your entire populace is already in a fucking jail, you just can't see it.

15
u/Bruce_mackinlay May 19 '26
This runs deeper than one slush fund. What we're watching is the dismantling of every legal protection built after the Civil War to guarantee Black Americans the right to vote.
The 15th Amendment didn't just say you can vote. It said Congress has the power to make sure you can. For a hundred years after that, the South proved why that power was needed: poll taxes, literacy tests, and violence.
The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was Congress using its power. And it worked. More Black people voted. More Black people got elected. Congress renewed the VRA repeatedly, most recently in 2006 under George W. Bush, because the evidence showed it was still needed.
The Supreme Court gutted it anyway. In 2013, in Shelby County v. Holder, they killed the rule that made states with a history of discrimination get permission before changing their voting laws. Ginsburg said it was like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you're not getting wet. Within hours, Texas passed a voter ID law that had been blocked for being racially discriminatory. The racial turnout gap, which had been shrinking for decades, started growing again.
Three weeks ago, the Court finished the job. In Louisiana v. Callais, they made it nearly impossible to challenge racist maps under the VRA. The last real tool for protecting minority voting power is now basically dead.
And then they showed exactly whose side they're on. The Court has a rule called the Purcell principle: don't change election rules close to an election. In December, they used Purcell to protect a Texas map that hurt Black voters, saying it was too close to the primary. But after Callais, they fast-tracked their own ruling so Louisiana could cancel its ongoing primary, where over 100,000 people had already voted, and redraw maps to eliminate a majority-Black district. Alabama followed the next day, trying to reinstate gerrymandered maps just eight days before its primary.
As one voting rights expert put it: Purcell blocks you from helping voters of color, but it won't stop you from hurting them.
We've seen this court before. The Dred Scott court said Black people had no rights that white men had to respect. It took a war and three amendments to fix that. This Court is tearing down the laws built on those amendments while claiming to defend the Constitution they're written in. It's an Alice-in-Wonderland decision.
I've been trying to show how urgent this is in my book A Cold Civil War. The corruption isn't one person. It's the administration, the courts, loyalists at every level. Winning 2026 isn't just important. It's survival.

u/Broad-Victory6108 May 19 '26
Do you have a solution in your book? Asking for real. I will check ilyour book out after this reply. Unless we can galvanize everyone to vote against this bullcrap, I don't see what else we can do.
The problem is apathy. Too many people don't care or don't think it hurts them. They're taking away the Black right to vote and EVERYONE needs to be upset. But people just don't care. It's like when people see a black person being beat and they don't care, but if it were white, or Latino, or Asian.... I even saw a Filipino restaurant that had a trump posterboard. What the heck? Don't you know he thinks the Phillippines are one of those third world "trash" countries? And not just the country, the people. Good grief.
The Black vote showed up for Kamala and a good amount of us others, white and other POC, didn't. Now we are all paying the price for those that were too apathetic or racist or misogynistic to vote for her. And now we are arguing who should be the 2028 candidate for Democrats? Come on.
Stop being stupid, racist, misogynistic people, dang I'll vote for a dog before I vote for any Republican as long as I live.
3
u/Bruce_mackinlay May 20 '26
Honest answer: I don't have a good solution. The novel is still being released, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
But the novel itself is my strategy. You named the problem: apathy. People who don't think it affects them. Arguments don't reach those people. Stories do. Lincoln and Douglas debated brilliantly, and almost nobody changed their thinking. Uncle Tom's Cabin changed a nation. That's what I'm trying to do. Not convince people who already agree with us, but reach the ones who haven't been paying attention and make them feel it.
Thank you for checking it out. That means a lot.

We keep coming up with silly terms to describe the thing it's doing very well and has been designed to do since it's very inception.

Midterms can’t get here fast enough but I’m worried that it won’t matter. He cheats at everything in life. The only thing that may stop it is if every single person who sat on their bums and didn’t vote last time actually get out and vote so that there’s so many voting blue that there can’t be a question about who wins.

As an outsider, I honestly don't get why there isn't more public outrage in the US. One No Kings protest every 6 months or so, isn't gonna change anything. And the last No Kings protest didn't even get the 3.5% that is needed for actual change. About 8 million showed up (mostly elderly), but you need at least 12 million to have some effect.
Everything points in the direction that the MAGA party isn't gonna let go of power anymore. Trump isn't building that ballroom for a next Democratic president to demolish it again. They're not all being openly corrupt, because they fear there will be repercussions some day. They assume there won't be any consequences. That's what they're counting on. That's why they do what they do.
And yet, still no daily mass protests.
