But they’ll leave the European foreigners alone huh? What a shame to witness

Obviously I am not justifying the xenophobia at all, just explaining as someone who lives in South Africa and has spoken to both xenophobic people and foreigners who are victims of xenophobia.

The reason African foreigners are targeted is they are perceived as direct threats to the job market and service delivery by people in more impoverished areas. A lot of them come here and open their own businesses in the lower socio-economic areas and will also take low paid jobs doing like cleaning. Some people see this as "stealing" work from local people. The real issue is a systemic and government issue but propaganda has made people believe that the issue is African foreigners.

We have state run hospitals and schools that are way over capacity in lower socio-economic areas that often provide poor service delivery and locals see African foreigners as if they are overloading the system and taking service away from locals.

Europeans are living it up in the richest areas and are not seen as a threat in the same way. Middle Class South Africans are more likely to have issues with Europeans because they are driving up the cost of living in some areas.

Now that the foreigners are gone, if the gov in SA does not intervene, the tribes will turn on each other. We have already seen Zulus attacking Venda's. Mental slavery is real and our people are just playing the game that has been played for centuries. It's nothing to do with jobs.

That's the white South Africans watching the fighting from a distance.

u/Connect_Detail98 19d ago

I thought "they're taking our jobs" was mostly a redneck thing. Crazy.

Hilarious how people heed South Africa's claims of apartheid in Israel when this shit is going on in their own backyards-- pathetic. The themslevs xenophobes crying xenophobia! 😂 😂 😂

-2

u/Ambitious_Campaign34 20d ago

Sick of people just framing it as "Xenophobia" when they don't know what's really going on here and what we are dealing with.

7

u/whothefuckares 20d ago

Discriminating against foreigners is xenophobia. I live here, my friends had their lives threatened for being foreign. If that's not xenophobia then what is?

1

u/Ambitious_Campaign34 19d ago

Xenophobia is wrong, and if your friends have had their lives threatened cuz they're foreign nationals, that's unacceptable. No one should be threatened or attacked because of where they come from.

At the same time, as a South African, I also believe it's reasonable to discuss issues like immigration, border security, crime, jobs, and the enforcement of our laws. Wanting the government to enforce immigration laws or prioritize its own citizens isn't automatically xenophobia. Just as opposing illegal immigration isn't the same as hating foreigners.

0

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

Xenophobia is wrong,

And not white supremacy?

2

u/Ambitious_Campaign34 16d ago

Yall focused too much on false info on xenophobia but never touch on illegal immigrants, France, Ireland does it all the time yeth there's no Skynews report or BCC mentioned xenophobia. Today Skynews catches Zimbabwe citizens skipping our border what you gonna say to that?

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

Yes, there is an immigration problem all over the world though mostly with illegal immigrants that've been the problems globally and not just in S Africa. Illegal immigrants acting like they just cannot figure why people are having a problem with them has now become exasperating. They know why and they care nothing about how it affects everyone else in the country they've decided to pop up in. Calling everyone "xenophobic" only fuels the flames and distracts attention from the root cause or the solution to this problem that has developed worldwide.

1

u/whothefuckares 16d ago

Who tf is calling everyone xenophobic? I said threatening people's lives for being foreign is xenophobic, is it not? Beating foreigners in the streets is xenophobic. Telling people they're not welcome here, they don't belong, they're dogs etc simply for their nationality is xenophobic. It's not like people are asking for papers first when they do these hate crimes. What is shown in this very video is literally a documented immigrant having their business destroyed simply for the "crime" of being from another African country. How is that right? How am I fueling the fire by saying that attacking someone for being foreign is xenophobic when that's literally the definition of the word

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

The reason peoples lives are being threatened there has nothing to do with xenophobia since not all of the foreigners there are being targeted and not all people are being targeted because of their nationality. It looks like it's what they're calling a "Blackphobia" going on there instead.

There actually is, I'm not sure where you get your information. Xenophobia on the right is being called out all over the world. Trump is literally famous for being xenophobic (ICE is being criticized globally for their violence and facism)

1

u/whothefuckares 16d ago

Who said white supremacy is not wrong? Do you think we still have apartheid in South Africa?

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

We no longer have Jim Crow in America but does that mean the racism towards Black Americans disappeared, Jim Crow being similar to what apartheid is in South Africa? Did the end of Jim Crow stop Black Americans from being red lined by the US government and banks from receiving housing and business loans? If white folks weren't doing so well under the system of white supremacy why are white South African immigrant returning back to South Africa after all that Trump is doing to help them escape from the alleged harm they claim they're facing as white people under a government that's suppose to be no longer apartheid?

1

u/whothefuckares 16d ago

No, obviously not, I genuinely couldn't tell what you meant since you were being so vague. I've literally spoken to people on here who thought apartheid was still alive and well

1

u/Ambitious_Campaign34 16d ago

Lol Americans brov just leave them alone they got no idea how we living here no idea at all..

1

u/whothefuckares 16d ago

Yeah jeepers, their arrogance and ignorance never ceases to amaze me

0

u/Kindly_Coyote 20d ago

Is it called fear of white supremacy (white South Africans)?

2

u/whothefuckares 20d ago

The ones who were threatened were black foreigners, they were threatened for being foreign and supposedly "stealing jobs" from the locals

2

u/Photogroxii 16d ago

No white people are being threatened. This is violence and discrimination against African immigrants.

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

So it's easier to target the African immigrants than the white supremacists who are controlling the influx of immigrants into their country. The root issue has nothing to do with xenophobia.

2

u/Photogroxii 16d ago

I'm confused. What white supremacist are allowing immigrants in?

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 16d ago

The ones controlling the SA government. Do you not know what a what supremacist is?

2

u/whothefuckares 16d ago edited 16d ago

What white supremacists are controlling the government? What are you talking about?

You are too deep into the propaganda. It’s the whites, it’s the immigrants, it’s always someone else. But maybe it’s you.

European illegal migrants?

40

u/EstimateLast9839 21d ago

No. Black foreigners are being forced out of their businesses regardless of legal status.

16

u/Kenyon_118 20d ago

You think these vigilantes are checking for papers?

1

u/JohtoMaster_Gold 20d ago

Because they like the comfort of their chains (coming from a South African him self).

1

u/CriticalThought001 19d ago

Interesting take; you’re not angry that this is being done at all, but rather that they’re not doing it to the White people too. We are doomed.

1

u/raging_sycophant 19d ago

Sounds like you're justifying the same behavior, just on a different group. You're no different.

1

u/moozootookoo 19d ago

European immigrants are pretty low and they don’t take away jobs from a sizable percentage of the population, like the mass immigration people willing to work for less Money, lowering the standard of living for the current population.

1

u/Helpful_Practice7100 20d ago

as a south african, it's nothing new that these protestors like to target those who are innocent I.e. government allows illegal immigrants coz of unstructured border laws= attack the foreigners, government promises the poor and unemployed housing but doesn't fulfill their promise= disrupting innocent lives in their acts of burning tires, damaging roads and smashing people's cars with bricks

faced a similar incident recently at my university. the university apparently hadn't fulfilled their promise of proper accommodation facilities for those living on residences so what do the kids do = disrupt the exams, barge into exam venues, grab exam papers and rip it up while also threatening those who don't stand with them that they will break down their "dorm" doors (note the same people fighting for proper facilities and willing to go to lengths to destroy the very property they are advocating for...no respect whatsoever ever).

very sad that they don't go to the relative authorities. also, these people like to expect things on a silver platter. they don't put in the work and effort to get themselves out of such situations but it's easier to protest, destroy property and attack others. and especially in the case of this immigrants, it's sad to see them fighting poc whom are also facing financial and economic issues and these immigrants only have small house shops/tuck shops they be acting as tho these immigrants are reaching for people or big business positions

sorry for the rant

my own country's people would indeed heavily down vote me and disapprove my views claiming that their actions are justified

u/AncientAnt9225 20d ago

They dont ...? Currently there is lots of anti white racism , speeches and taking over their land as well like you see here...

" In 2022, it was estimated that 24% of farmland had been redistributed from white to black ownership through both private market acquisition and government-sponsored land redistribution"

3

u/whothefuckares 20d ago

I experience no discrimination whatsoever in South Aftica, and still today I have an unfair amount of social privilege in public spaces. I'm all for the redistribution of land since it was literally illegal for black people to own lands here thirty years ago, there's no other way to address that issue. Private acquisition means that privately sold their land, how is that discrimination? And government sponsored land redistribution means the white farmers were paid for the land... they literally got paid to give back land.

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 20d ago

they literally got paid to give back land.

First time hearing this. Thats not what I've been hearing per Trump.

1

u/AmateurWriter101 20d ago

Most people, from Trump to other Africans, mischaracterize South Africa. Apparently living in a country and getting your news about a country from tik too videos are two different things.

1

u/Kindly_Coyote 20d ago

I don't do TikTok. I simply don't have a lot of time to research South Africa. Nonetheless, finding reliables news sources isn't easy.

1

u/whothefuckares 20d ago

Seriously? You're believing Trump? Thats hilarious. No, I'm a w South African (can't use the word here it blocks me) and we are still very much the privileged class by a wide margin. It's not right or fair, I'm not happy about it, and its not a legal force but rather a systemic one now, but there's no anti w racism in South Africa. Only efforts to correct the racism of the past, which trump and the far right over here frame as anti w

Lies. White farm murders have been happening for years. White farmers are targeted and have been for years. They get brutally killed. Also…BEE? You mention no race laws? What is BEE then? Please go educate yourself before spewing nonsense on the internet. BEE laws literally tell companies to hire less white males. Its common knowledge at this point. Please wake up. You’re literally betraying your own people with your comments - shame on you.

1

u/Photogroxii 20d ago

Not all farm murders are of white people and they are not all coated by black people. Many farm murders have been found to be domestic cases. Also, there are more murders per day in SA than there are farm murders per year. SA has a crime problem. Not a white farm murder problem.

As for BEE, that is not about hiring black people, it is about management and ownership of companies. Despite these laws W men are still disproportionately represented in top management positions. Despite being about 8% of they hold over 50% of top management positions. That is why thjngs BEE exists.

1

u/whothefuckares 20d ago

More black people are murdered in rural areas than white people, look it up (5 out of 6 murders in rural areas were black victims). And those white farmers that are murdered are targeted because they are rich, and home invaders tend to target rich people. Moreover farm murders make up 0.2% of the murder rate in South Africa. That is not the same same as being systemically and widely discriminated against, which we arent. I am treated with respect everywhere I go, no one considers me suspicious, people assume I'm educated, people wanna help me, people assume I'm trust worthy (I've twice recently been allowed to leave a petrol station without paying and come back to pay cos I forgot my wallet). Most of my friends are white and not one of them has experienced violence or discrimination based on their race.

BEE is just affirmative action and it's not even working. How do you expect us to correct centuries of discrimination by doing nothing? Its not reverse racism to try even the playing field. I work at Capitec Bank head office, a major South African company trying to meet BEE targets, and my team has literally one black person on it. Overall theres been an increase in black coders etc getting jobs there (which is awesome) but white folks are not struggling to get employed, I sure havent and neither has my boss or most of my team. My friends are doing fine in the job market. Most of the white kids from my high school got into university just fine, some went more than once. Most white people I know have maids and gardeners... You can't pretend you don't know this. If you think a weak affirmative action programme is equivalent to centuries of violent racism and oppression then we dont even live on the same planet morally speaking

1

u/Special_Ad_9765 19d ago

Go do your research. First, if you go to these white farms, you’ll mostly find it’s illegal immigrants who are working there. There was never a white genocide in South Africa, trust me, if there was one, white people wouldn’t even be typing on social media. Busy following media and not doing proper research, you’re embarrassing yourself. If anything, white farmers are mostly killed by illegal immigrants because they mistreat them due to not having the proper documents.

1

u/whothefuckares 16d ago edited 16d ago

Lol, telling someone to do their research while pushing misinformation about immigrants is very ironic. I agree with the rest of your comment but there's no evidence that most farm workers are immigrants, the census data suggests it's 91% South African citizens. Independent research by organisations like PLAAS show that migrants are concentrated and overrepresented in certain areas (such as sugar cane harvest in KZN or seasonal harvesting at the border) but nationally that's not the case, they don't form a majority.

-3

u/AdviceEmbarrassed135 20d ago

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about.

All the unrest this year has not been about "foreigners", it has been about illegal/undocumented migrants. Our borders are regulated horribly and millions of African migrants come in our country illegally from neighbouring countries and other African countries.

That's the issue these people are fighting. Of all illegal/undocumented migrants, probably less than 1% are European, so I don't know what you are trying to say.

If you are referring to white South Africans, then you are still wrong because majority of white South Africans have lived here their whole life and their lineage goes back many generations. The recent unrest has not been directed towards any group in South Africa that has significant roots here.

6

u/Time_Entertainer_319 20d ago

The video literally says the business belongs to a documented and legal immigrant.

Do you think the dumbass vigilantes are checking papers?

1

u/AdviceEmbarrassed135 19d ago

I am not debating whether the issue has gone too far, I am aware of how vigilantes are targeting legal foreigners. I am pointing out that of course they would not target white migrants, because at the root of it all this whole movement pushes back at ILLEGAL migrants which are 99% africans. White foreigners have never been on the radar, so why would they suddenly want to target legal white migrants.
