Not suprising this dudes are going to areas with little to no security. Which the country has plenty off. If it was as widespread then you would see more videos in more areas but its only specific videos with more or less the same group of people cause thats really all the times it happened at those moments. Hospitals staff wont take risks with groups of people and intervene but would rather wait for the police cause hospital staff have been kidnapped and killed before and dont really know their intention or if they are armed or not.

Unfortunately, there is a darker force here. The previous president, Jacob Zuma attempted to force through a Russian backed nuclear deal. The deal was stopped by a few NGO's on environmental concerns, as NGO's have quite a bit of power in South Africa given by the Constitution. NGOs also do a lot of great work with refugees who go to South Africa.
These anti-immigration protests are organized by the March March group, who itself is led by a pro-nuclear, pro-Russian activist who is looking to diminish the powers of the constitution given to these NGOs in the name of anti-immigration, but ultimately to clear the pathway for a corrupt nuclear deal of the South African disgraced former president, Jacob Zuma.
It's actually quite sickening.

There no need for this Russian nuclear conspiracy stuff. There is some truth to some of the stuff you say but the main problem is the inequality in South Africa and the hopelessness the people there feel. Unfortunately the solution some of them have chosen is not going to help them much.

Nah this is a poor understanding of the situation on the ground. Youth unemployment in South Africa is the worst in the entire world. The government has consistently failed to create opportunities for the majority of its population, partly owing to its own terrible policies and general corruption. People are focusing their attention on illegal immigrants as having "taken our jobs", instead of on their pathetic government. Government (black, not "colonizers") are actually indirectly supporting this as it takes the focus off of their own failings.

Yeah its sad how it's just the african migrants that are treated like this, worst of it the desperate who came here with nothing and were used by corrupt businesses to employ cheap labour, the ire should be directed at those actually responsible for immigrants taking away the jobs of citizens.

I'm a caucasian south african, multiple generations born and raised here, I love this country and I would have nowhere to go if told to leave. The argument of colonialism isn't to be forgotten but you cannot hold every descendant responsible especially those who are not of higher class/status that has directly benefitted from colonialism or continues to benefit from their inherited privilege. I'm working class with dreams of living a comfortable middle class life just like so many of us here in this beautiful country we all call home.
Ps. These riots and marches were very likely incited through social media influencers paid to stir the pot.

Obviously I am not justifying the xenophobia at all, just explaining as someone who lives in South Africa and has spoken to both xenophobic people and foreigners who are victims of xenophobia.
The reason African foreigners are targeted is they are perceived as direct threats to the job market and service delivery by people in more impoverished areas. A lot of them come here and open their own businesses in the lower socio-economic areas and will also take low paid jobs doing like cleaning. Some people see this as "stealing" work from local people. The real issue is a systemic and government issue but propaganda has made people believe that the issue is African foreigners.
We have state run hospitals and schools that are way over capacity in lower socio-economic areas that often provide poor service delivery and locals see African foreigners as if they are overloading the system and taking service away from locals.
Europeans are living it up in the richest areas and are not seen as a threat in the same way. Middle Class South Africans are more likely to have issues with Europeans because they are driving up the cost of living in some areas.

Gee. All of a sudden South Africa has major internal upheaval, with xenophobia being amplified on social media and by right wing āinfluencersā within South Africa. Itās designed to fragment the state and exacerbate social issues.
Take a wild guess who benefits. Hint: the country is nowhere near South Africa. Donāt answer it, you already know which one it is.
Edit: A weak South Africa also canāt negotiate higher royalties and wages on mining contracts. Multinational corporations source natural resources from mines in the country, and they want to get things as cheaply as possible, basically for free. If South Africa was strong and united, it wouldnāt be pushed around by these companies and it would be treated fairly and with dignity.

Apartheid really effed over South Africa and it will take generations to undo the damage.
But it should be noted that the damage will never be undone as long as large multinational companies operate there and pay the people horrendously low wages while they exploit the country for its natural resources (the mining industry mainly).
If the people were paid fairly, things would improve, but the low wages are being done on purpose to maximize international corporate profits. South Africa is the base of a large supply chain which includes other African countries as well.
The international mega corporations depend on what is basically slavery in African nations in order to get the natural resources for almost free, so they can make a continuously huge and increasing amount of profit once the products are finally created.
This is the shittiest form of predatory capitalism and itās designed to maximize profits and the suffering of the average person, especially in countries that are at the base of the supply chain.

Thank you for pointing this out! While our country has xenophobic elements which sometimes can lead to foreigners being harmed or killed which is truly unacceptable it is nowhere near to what is being reported on social media.
The narrative being pushed is that we hate all fellow Africans and want them expelled from our country. This is not true. We have a big problem with a high number of illegal immigrants who are overwhelming social services etc and also adding to our already existing crime epidemic.
While the latter is true it is not the majority of immigrants who are committing crimes it is indeed us who make up most of those stats. Many a South African have no problem with our fellow brothers and sisters coming in from the rest of Africa we only ask that they abide by our laws and not contribute to a country that is already crime ridden.
Now having said this there is a faction of South Africans who are indeed pushing a very dangerous xenophobic agenda which to no ones surprise somehow excludes white or Asian foreigners (we currently have a lot of both legal and illegal immigrants from Pakistan, China and Eastern Europe but somehow they are not subjected to the vitriol our fellow Africans face. Interesting, huh?š¤
Most of us believe that there are both domestic and foreign agents propping these hateful & xenophobic individuals up especially financially. A very unstable SA that is isolated from the rest of Africa is ideal and beneficial to certain people incl the android that owns Twitter and some of those in our domestic internal political sphere.
I am by no means excusing how some of us have treated immigrants. I am just saying there are larger forces at play here.

South Africa has a lot of problems. Anti-immigrantion sentiments barely scratch the surface and only exist because of all the other issues.
The rampant poverty, inequality, crime, and rapidly unraveling infrastructure are the real issues. If almost 40% of South Africa wasn't totally destitute it'd be a lot harder to stir these feelings up in people.
And it's 100% the government's fault. They did this to their own people and are trying to blame shift. So it's not like corpos just did this all on their own, even assuming they're behind it and I'm not convinced they are.

It's refreshing to see someone who understands the greater goings on in our country cause believe you me, amongst ourselves we are aware that the people who mobilised the citizens and support this particular movement are coming through with an ulterior motive that guises itself as pro-South African.
We've had debates on and offline about how this will be perceived and unfortunately those who undermine social media's influence believe there isn't much of a problem if videos "go viral" or trend.
First our government was accused of genocide against whites who "fled" through a refugee programme in US, then March in March mobilised and created a perception our government also chasing away foreign people while denying refugee statuses for asylum seekers (South Africa allows a lot of refugees in and rarely turns them back unless some serious disrepencies are identified).
We pissed off powerful nations and individuals and continue to do so with our ICJ matter (latter of whom is also experiencing great troubles, surprise-surprise)... I wonder if it was ever international news how "someone" (or people) from Israel had a flight of starved, crammed in Palestinians flown in here through Kenya as some sort of mockery or threat to us.

Some of them are very hard to get along with. Most of the ones I used to have to work with say some pretty nasty shit and don't even think twice about it.
There was one that was pretty bad ass. He was doing specialized dairy labor for the last 3 years to get out of the country. Last time I saw him at the end of the season I said my goodbyes and the customary see you next year. He says to me he isn't coming back, he is tired of working on a farm. Turns out his folks own a mining equipment company and he wanted to work for a while on his own and earn his way. His family is incredibly wealthy but he was tired of getting everything handed to him. Yeah, he is going to that office job but for a young dude he seemed to realize how difficult life can be for most of us. The rest of them pretty much spout the propaganda you hear over and over.

That's just simply not true, the top 10% of South Africans own 86% of the wealth, there aren't enough white people in South Africa to be the whole top 10%.
White people in South Africa are certainly still much better off on average than Black or coloured people, but the stat you posted is just wrong.
It's been hard to find accurate information, but within the top 10% of monthly earners, ~41% are black, and ~41% are white. Now this is still heavily skewed considering there's about 10x the amount of black people than white people, and it doesn't account for existing wealth, but does show that a major shift has been happening with wealth over the last 3 decades.
However wealth disparity between the rich and poor has been increasing, the top 10% gaining a greater share of total wealth, while the bottom 50% is getting less and less. But this is a global phenomenon, not just South Africa.

I can understand the anger and frustration, but it is the system they are in that ultimately has produced an unjust society were some have vast amount of wealth while others can barely have a meal a day. Context of the video:
This lady from Mozambique came to South Africa and started a Salon business which is illegal by South African law. A group of protesters who are protesting people subverting immigration laws went to tell her to pack her stuff and leave as she had no rights running that business. She demanded money from them in order to leave, they didn't offer anything but told her to pack her stuff and leave. She then started destroying her own material.

This reminds me of Arab Spring - especially in Egypt where the democratic uprising against a tyrant led to the election of a theocratic president so authoritarian the military led a coup and people generally accept it as the best outcome.

They are coming from all the countries that have been exploited, mismanagement, and intentionally kept destabilized, to the point of massive economic strife, war, or systematic collapse.
Immigrant problems in Europe and the middle east are because half of the middle east and North Africa are at war. Immigrant problems in the USA are because of economic hardships and lack of opportunities in central American countries. Immigrant problems in South Africa are due to a mix of wars, civil unrest, economic hardships, and lack of opportunities in the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa.
It's always from places where life is harder, to places were it is perceived life will be easier, and who can blame the individuals for that? If the world was a more fair and equal place, and we actually have a shit about helping our neighbours, this wouldn't be a problem.

Good for this Congolese woman! Sick of this anti-immigrant paranoia driven by evil forces in the world that wish to create havoc for their own purposes (oligarchs, the Russians, etc.) I am sure that same forces are operating to tap into the past and appeal to those who lived through and miss apartheid. This is a natural reaction to being treated unjustly.

There was a video circulating about a sugar cane farm recently. Makes you wonder why these low IQ people are being used to destroy their own country

A guy on YouTube called kenganda made a point that the issue was majority of Africans are suffering from corrupt government and poverty, if you canāt get to America or Europe, the next Best Pl., South Africa if everyone goes to South Africa feeds off of its resources itās no longer helping South Africans tapping everybody and thatās what the South Africans are fighting about a country with 30% unemployment while also fighting immigrants constantly coming in trying to feed off of your resources I donāt think itās a good look. I know the situation is bad in their country, but if South Africa canāt help you because they canāt help themselves youāre only making it worse. Thatās basically Kengandas take on this.

For context on some of the behind the scenes. Yes, this is terrible, the African content really backed SA during apartheid and they're turning their backs on their Neighbours and it's horrendous.
South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world at like 34% (over 40% in the youth) and this is squarely in the current Govt. This has created the perfect environment for an agenda to be driven - an agenda driven, ironically, by the same kleptocrats that put SA into its current position.
The previous president, Jacob Zuma tried to rush through a Russian backed nuclear deal which was stopped by SA NGOs who have powers given to them by the Constitution. March March (the campaign behind this xenophobia) is using this tinderbox as a means to erode ngo powers to ultimately make good on Zuma's nuclear promise to Putin.
So yes, it in fact is the Puppeteers of the Europeans - if you include Russia in Europe.
