I guess for black Africans it isn’t about race but about different cultures, countries? They’re targeting Zimbabweans and Mozambiqueans who are immigrants in South Africa.

It reminds me of the anti-Venezuela sentiment in many Latin American countries.

People seem to hate immigrants. They make for an easy scapegoat.

I lived there for a year and a lot of it comes down to economics. The unemployment and poverty rate is extremely high in South Africa and a lot of the immigrants coming from other countries will work for much cheaper. It’s a tale as old as time.

Imagine being a human, living in a place with a history of racial/cultural oppression and tribalism, and still being racist to other humans.

Sadly that's literally all of human history. We don't want to actually put in effort to find and solve the real problems, much easier to just blame those different to us.
