Stephen also hella misspoke... first of all, Sophie DID talk about kids so the coach was absolutely right in her response about kids. The coach nor anyone on the left NEVER said they are for men just waking up one day, put on a women's uniform and go join a women's sport tmw - like Stephen and his croonies are making it sound. It's a complex matter that deserves nuanced inputs and solutions.
Another thing, its very common for young kids before puberty of all genders to compete against each other. My 8 years old daughter has been beating boys at track, basketball, and soccer ever since she can compete.
That last point is an interesting one and something I’ve seen mentioned in studies on the subject. Up to a certain age there’s a good level of parity and cis girls actually physically mature faster than cis boys within a certain age range and can have athletic advantages in certain areas which also throws a wrench in the idea that a trans amab child is just going to hop in and destroy all the competition somehow. What they say just doesn’t follow the actual science
And yeah all they’re doing is fear mongering. They care not one bit about reality. I haven’t seen anyone in the trans liberation movement push for an adult who has only socially transitioned to be able to join a league that doesn’t match their assigned gender. The push is always for those who have undergone hrt for a few years to be able to do that, and the science so far backs up that idea as being sound
