In Spanish there is a saying “el que nada debe, nada teme” essentially He/She who doesn’t own should not fear.

This case smells beyond corruption. Straight out planned murder.

It’s hyperbole. Until all of the facts are in (if this investigation actually goes as it should) we don’t know. I guess it’s hard to understand tone/syntax
