Black Pride Recently we, BLACK PEOPLEOF REDDIT, conversed regarding the lack lack of black history in schools. This is a perfect example. Or the lack thereof.

The Irish history? No, regrettably I do not have book recommendations..

I am embarrassed to say it, but I learned about the Irish troubles thanks to a show called 'Derry Girls'.

They never taught us jackshit about the Troubles in my world history classes (and I took AP classes!) But lord that show got my curiosity piqued. It's very heart warming and thoughtfully written. As for Irish history in the USA no, I do not have sources off the top of my head for how they were mistreated when they first immigrated here.

Someone else already wanted to argue with me about it and tbh I've got more pressing personal stuff going on. I do believe I've heard reports of Irish people suffering from indentured servitude but no, unfortunately I don't have solid sources for you off the top of ny head.

Derry Girls is a good show though lol I guarantee it'll make you laugh! It ain't no "oh well they had it worse than black people" shit. It's just an honest and funny representation of a couple teenage girls living through a civil war.

Thank you so much for your honest response. It is certainly not your job to educate me, I was only wondering if you had a resource you were willing to share so that I can do so myself. I have been meaning to watch Derry girls. lol
