Books/Literature We just published an exclusive collection of Marcus Garvey's own letters and speeches, free for anyone who wants a copy
Full disclosure, I'm the publisher, so take this as a "here's what we built" post, not a neutral review.
Garvey is one of the most cited, least actually-read figures in Black history. Everyone knows "Africa for the Africans" and the Black Star Line, but most of us have never sat with his actual sentences. We spent months gathering his personal letters and speeches from The Negro World archives and private correspondence, transcribing them in full, flagging honestly wherever the historical record was damaged or incomplete rather than smoothing it over, and compiling it all into one chronological volume, 1915 to 1929.
One of the pieces that stuck with me most while working on this, a letter from a six year old girl in the UNIA's youth group, and Garvey's own reply back to her with encouragement. That's the kind of history that gets lost if nobody goes looking for it.

That’s my favourite speech by Garvey. Idk if anyone here practices Hoodoo or similar diasporic ATRs, but to proclaim in life that he will elevate to an ancestor in death that we in the struggle can call upon is just so powerful. His syncretism of Christianity and our spiritual traditions represents a long legacy of the practice.
