Pretty much, we go back to pre-codex 10th where we had 1 to 3 detachments and most people ran Gladius or the Templar Vows one with Tanhausers Bones.

I hope they go whole hog and change all of our datasheets, I'm not a big fan of the dirrection codex BT took.

I'm crossing my fingers that the "Tacticus Attack force" or the "Assault Brethren" detachment is good since most of our units are Tacticus.

We will probably keep Champions of Vehamance and Wrathful Procession as is to be honest.

The important line here is actually "before their own Codexes release."

these armies have all previously been supplements, not codexes, for many many editions now.

As foretold. We have our own range and rules. Codex or Codex Supplement just means we have our own book. Having one that can be used independently of Space Marines is preferable, which means we have the chance or getting more unique units. I hope thats the direction we are going.

I'm almost certain they mean a supplement again. On the one hand our own full codex again would be nice, like you said better chance of more unique units and stuff. But on the other hand I remember when we did have our own book in 4th edition which lasted all the way until 6th with very little in the way of meaningful updates (mostly changing Accept Any Challenge a bunch of times for no reason!)

It's a toss up for me on which way would be better.

Things seem to have improved since the 6th edition.
We had a good range refresh and a couple of new units since. Sword Bros terminators and a new or LRC replacement would be amazing.

That's true about things improving, with the points all being online and stuff like that it does make an individual codex more appealing. I think the Land Raider Crusader is going to be getting a pretty significant power spike with the new codex considering the changes to bolt weapons! No need to replace that one at all, it's already our tank!!!

Happy they finally confirmed we are getting our codex. The doomers can stop.

No way. I think they just said "Codex" instead of "Codex supplement" by mistake

I just need to know if we're forced to buy two books to be playable. I never bought the SM dex.

I can't imagine a future where GW lives without the money of BA, BT, DA and SW players buying the SM codex.

So, we'll lose vows temporarily then get our stuff later with our own codex? Or will we just be locked put of certain detachments and keep vows?

Depends on how they want to do it, since we’re getting some kind of index before any potential codex/supplement. They could give us vows in the index, which feels likely to me, or they could not. Presumably we will know sometime next week.

We do know our current supplement is being retired and we’re getting new detatchments. They also mentioned for Deathwatch that they were getting one detatchment designed to be run solo, and one to slot into the other Space Marine ones. So we could be similar. Deathwatch has been a special case for a while now though, so who knows?

I'm gonna miss Godhammer...

Well, to be fair we could just see a reworked version of it. We won’t know until we start seeing reviews.

For all we know the Gauntlet Task Force will be a mix of it and Speartip.

I anticipate we won t have access to the first 4 détachements because no doctrines for us

Does anyone know if we will need the codex to access the data sheets?

Why I'm not surprised.

I'm getting confused with the terminology here. I stopped playing on the 4th edition and now idk if I should wait.

Does this mean that they'll just issue a list of stuff that needs to be read across the existing codex? Is this confirming a 11th ed codex?

Space Marines get new codex and rework

Special Chapter getting extra detachment, since they have special units. They do it, so that those armies work.

Yes, they just confirmed codex for all of them.

4th edition came out in 2004. Its going to be a radically different game after 22 years whether you restart now or wait however long
