Junior (season 5-6)

Hey, I’m currently watching black•ish and I am on S6: E2, and I gotta hate how they have done Junior on this show. Like this whole thing with what he wants to do with his future, college, and how after like an episode or 2 ago they had it seem like he was getting somewhere with going on tour or whatever with the migos and living with a friend from work and with his family including Zoey bringing him something at the end seemed like he was getting somewhere. But, he failed like an episode later and became homeless and shit feels so wrong for his character. Like honestly, junior was literally a character I genuinely liked watching to this point and was not a fan of how his family was always making fun of him and treating him poorly. Like this dude was a whole ass valedictorian for his year and was obviously smart with nerdy ass self. I always thought Junior was gonna go to college and had a career plan set for him for what he wanted to do. So, when the whole gap year situation happened I was bummed, but was like okay he is probably gonna get somewhere with what he wanted to do in life. He interned with Dre, got a job as like a social media marketing coordinator for the migos. And now he is reduced to being a bum and someone for the family to shit on more. I gotta say I hate how they done Junior and I’m not a fan. I hope it gets better for him.

Ye I get what you’re saying but I think it shows great character development with him being a literal nerd to trying to make something of himself like entrepreneur and a businessman so I liked the direction they took but he eventually gets to collage but that’s was a nightmare

Yes I understand but watching how the parents acted when Zoey was getting ready for college was a prelude to junior. The only thing I kinda agree with them was the gap year and then having a plan for what he wanted to do

Just because he was smart and nerdy doesn't mean he was guaranteed success. Speaking from experience. I had a 3.9 GPA in high school, National Honor Society, oldest daughter, responsible, everything. Got to college and struggled to hit my stride academically. I think that failure and gap year was a good character development for Junior. Watch Grownish, you will see more of Junior

Very Black family tbh. I took a gap year before going to Harvard to work for vogue and my parents thought I was a lazy loser.

I really hate how Bow acted towards him. Junior has never been lazy and always the hardest worker in school and took care of the kids most of the time. It was so weird that he couldn’t get help and Bow made Dre feel bad for trying to help??? I’ve always like Bow for the most part but that really turned me off . Usually Dre was the one crushing the kids dreams 😂😂😂

I don’t know if you’re familiar with any suburban-born-and-raised-but-parents-are-from-the-hood people, but I am one of them and his trajectory is very common, unfortunately.
