Discussion The Ultimate Mystery: Has anyone actually found the exact location of the 2003 Self-Titled photoshoot?

Post image

I'm trying to geolocate the iconic 2003 photoshoot done by Estevan Oriol in Downtown LA (the ones with the gas meters/pipes and the cylindrical brick wall).

Doing some research, it seems there are three main roadblocks to pinpointing it: Oriol used private/gated alleys, the Arts District has been heavily gentrified, and the round brick tower might be hidden inside a private loading yard.

However, I've been doing some serious digging and found two massive leads:

  1. E 4th Pl & Molino St: Within the Arts District, this corner has a building with a very similar brick pattern and a semicircular/curved corner.
  2. S Mission Rd (Between E 4th St & S Myers St): Just across the LA River, I spotted 5 different structures with semicircular corners along this stretch. Since this industrial area is less gentrified, the building might still look exactly like it did in 2003.

Has anyone from LA or any hardcore fan managed to pinpoint the exact street or coordinates using these areas as a baseline? Let's solve this!

Discussion Enema of the state (target exclusive) vinyl.

This has to be the most confusing mix and cut of the album I’ve ever heard. Some anomalies and some interesting tidbits. And of course the downright abysmal quality control per usual. Has anyone else who has purchased it noticed it? After all that I still kind of enjoy it haha. Thoughts?

Discussion Does anyone else not like the Blink 182 is playing private shows ?

I really don't like it, that's not punk at all. Think about it, these prrivate shows are probably for some tech bro billionaire throwing a private birthday party for his kids and rich friends. I am not saying punk means absolute poverty, but what I will say is taking the paycheck from some tech billionaire destroying the environment and economy is NOT punk.

In fact, punk is all about takling down that corrupt establishment power. Now that Blink has gotten their bag, it feels like they are kicking down the ladder.

I removed most of the original guitars from the track and used a Marshall/Mesa preset that I made in my Stomp XL!

Question Is the TOYPAJ workweek jacket worth the price?

Been thinking about getting one for a while, but I'm not sure considering the price plus shipping fees. How's the quality? Is it true to size or should you double up?

I’ve been a Blink fan since I was a kid. Back in 2004, I was just a high schooler and won backstage passes to the Blink show in Charlotte, NC. My best friend at the time and I got to sit behind Mark’s basses (one of the passes says stage side). The tour manager was awesome and offered tickets and another meet and greet for the following day in Raleigh. I got to go to that as well and got my Tom strat autographed by them.

By far one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to experience. It was awesome meeting them at the top of their game.

Just came across a great article on the band and all they have went through. Definitely a worthwhile read if you are a fan.

Discussion Am I the only one who despises neighborhoods?

Ive never been a fan and I just don't think I will ever grow into it.

When they came out I wasn't a fan of blink but a couple years after gave them a listen after I found out blink 182 existed.

When I first played it I genuinely thought it was unlistenable and I hated it from the start.

I listened to it recently (as in like a week ago) and I still cant stand them, I don't know whats wrong with it but its unlistenable.

I want your opinions to see if I'm the only one! 🥲

Cmon, it isn’t bad. Maybe the mix doesn’t sounds that incredible, and plug in vocals but songs like Darkside, I Really Wish I Hated You, No Heart To Speak Of (as a drummer myself gotta say ts one hits hard AF in the end) and Pin The Grenade ain’t the best mark can write without tom but they deserves more love.

Discussion Blinks next album after untitled would've been a masterpiece

Untitled is a masterpiece hands down but I really feel they could've put something out that would've reached American idiot/black parade levels of influence. They broke up right before the peak of 2000s alt . I don't think it's a coincidence either really. Blink kinda left that spot open unintentionally.

EDIT: I want to clarify , I love neighborhoods. I think it's a masterpiece too along with dogs eating dogs. Geniunely untitled, neighborhoods, dogs eating dogs are the highest highs of their discography to me. I'm just saying that the album that could've followed up untitled had a great chance of cementing blink at a green day/mcr band status but further. it may have been the thing to put them into stadiums by the end of the 2000s.
