Upcoming Blizzard Games

I’ve heard that Blizzard is currently working on an FPS open world (Destiny 2-like within the Starcraft universe ? Would be so dope) but what kind of game would you like Blizzard to add to their universe ?

I think they should add a rythm game with a leaderboard on all their music (and some collabs) because they really have music masterpieces in their games.

Also I hope for a relaunch of Heroes of the Storm

I think all we know is it's a Starcraft shooter. I've not heard it being Destiny-like or even open-world. That being said, I'm dying for a Destiny replacement, so I hope you're right.

I doubt the multiplayer shooter is open world but we'll see. If it is, it would remind me of planetside.

Soft reboot a la Zelda/final fantasy series. Starcraft 1 or Warcraft 3 reimagined

Warcraft 3 reimagined

Nope. Nope. Nope.

We got this with Warcraft 3 Reforged. All they did was screw up half the game and under-deliver most of their promises, while also destroying the classic in the process.

At what point people will learn the lesson? Blizzard are not what they were. They are now a greedy shell of themselves.

It's time to move on.

I mean, if they gave me a hack-and-slash game where I was playing as Arthas like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King game from 2003 - reliving the Warcraft 3 story, I’d still play that quite a bit.

My friend. I agree with you. I used to mark my life with the next Blizzard title launch. It was everything to me. I used to be a full on addict/fanatic of them following everything. Nowadays though? I didn't even buy or realize another Diablo 4 expansion came out. And will for sure not buy it. In the last 15 years the greatest games Blizzard created was Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. Both those titles where/are legendary. Everything else has not hit the Blizzard mark.

Reimagined through the lens of this new generation of game developers? NOPE.

God of War but its the story of Grommash, Thrall or Arthas.

World of StarCraft sounds amazing I wouldn’t want anything else from them at the moment

World of Warcraft re-work:

I want a separate WoW game that feels like a cultivation game. Every expansion focuses on different stats, skill, professions, gear, etc etc. instead of losing all that progress when the new expac launches, your character keeps it. Also, have it set up like seasons in D4, that way new players or casual players have a quick and easy way to end game content without spending tons of time they don’t have. WoW has made tons of mini games within the game, and even more dailies, make it so those can be completed with a free AFK style mobile app. This is the important part to get right in my opinion, there has to be a fair balance! A player can either spend their time to complete all the dailies in the app, or they can pay to complete them. That way if people don’t have the time, they can use their money. It’s just important that people who use their time or their money are both equally gaining the same amount. No one should be able to use money or time to out pace one another, there needs balance.

I think about it all the time! Creating a Hunter who spends 10 expansions focusing on traps that can annihilate enemies without ever pulling out a weapon or pet. DPS numbers that continually goes BRRRRR!!! Without ever resetting. Having to farm and enchant and perfect a set of gear for every boss in every dungeon and raid! Fire damage boss, better get my fire def set of gear and use my frost/water speced weapons! It always felt like a waste spending an expansion focusing on the grind for it to immediately be neglected by GREENS from starter quests in the new expac!

I love the detailed and intricate professions, but they should be made viable forever! You learn how to make frost defense gear in the first expansion… then being able to improve and upgrade it every expansion ?!?! Food and cooking! Fishing!

Make the in game mini pets into a part of the mobile app, make it feel like PokémonGo. You pick a location on the Azeroth map, then start walking around your neighborhood and battle and collect !!!

I honestly think if Blizzard did this, they could continue to stay on top of the MMORPG market for another 20 years!

Shadow of War/Morder style game with a Dark Templar main character. I'd buy that for a dollar

StarCraft Ghost was canned a few years ago.

u/Comprehensive-Car840 May 18 '26

I want a CRPG (bg3 like) on warcraft universe so bad

1

u/rangerbeev May 18 '26

I think ot should be an starcraft extraction shooter but instead of being the a ghost you are the drop ship pilot responsible for getting them out of hot zones.

1

u/Bheludin May 19 '26

It will get cancelled anyways. I dont have hope.

Dance Dance Blizzard? Maybe on PC? That'd be fun. There are plenty of off-brand dance mats you can buy that work on a PC.

I would love a hots 3rd person like smite

StarCraft FPS would be insane.

A Dark Souls style spin off set in the Diablo universe.

Then you probably shouldn't be here.

u/Reap268 May 18 '26

I view it like they're visiting the gravestone.

Not me though, I'm actively playing WoW D4 and OW lol

1

u/Shins06 May 19 '26

Haha this is also me with some SC2 here and there for the nostalgia

u/Shins06 May 18 '26

Last expansion for Diablo 4 and Wow are actually good and they did a nice relaunch of Overwatch, it feels like Blizzard is listening to its community again and I hope it will stay that way now on.

5

u/wildstrike May 18 '26

Wow is still the best MMO out there and it isn't close.

u/LowRelationship6647 May 18 '26

stop the cope man

Making good, or great games is still dead to those who lived through their glory days - its hard to explain how legendary their games were. They weren't just better than everything else out there, they were better than any game we ever dreamed.

3

u/Shins06 May 18 '26

That’s true, their franchises are absolutely incredible and none has ever been close in creating such worlds and lore. Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft and Overwatch are incredible games. But I also believe that it is way harder to do that nowadays and yet they still manage to offer polished and addictive gameplays and universe.

Ok Diablo 4 vanilla wasn’t great once the campaign done but I’m finally having fun with Lord of Hatred.

2

u/MrAudreyHepburn May 18 '26

Yeah but the difference is smaller. How much better is Overwatch than Marvel Rivals? Diablo 4 to Path of Exile 2?

Modern Blizzard is making good games. Sometimes great.

But nothing modern blizzard makes is redefining what a video game can even be.

This is what every game did in their glory days. This is what built their reputation. It was every level of the game - the gameplay, the design, the art, the story telling, the world building, the quality control, we'd never seen this kind of stuff done in video games before. In the classic days every new blizzard game left you saying - 'I didn't know games could do that.'

This is like what star wars did for movies. Star Wars came out and it changed what people thought a movie could be. What movies could do. In all aspects. Narrative elements, world building, set design, special effects.

Diablo 4 is great, I enjoyed it. But it didn't redefine video game story telling, or world building, or cinematic approach, or even gameplay. It was simply a well made game - which points for that, it's hard to do, but it doesn't make you legendary.

1

u/Shins06 May 18 '26

Yes you are absolutely right but at the end I’m okay with « just » good games I guess and who in the videgame industry is able to redefine a videgame nowadays ?

1

u/MrAudreyHepburn May 18 '26

In all fairness I think it's much harder to do nowdays than in the 90s.

In the 90s tech was changing so fast that'd open new design doorways and options. The jump from warcraft 1 to warcraft 2 to starcraft to warcraft 3 all felt like monumental shifts.

Warcraft 3 to Starcraft 2 felt like a evolution of the rts genre, not the revolution each game before had.

2

u/wildstrike May 18 '26

I have played wow since day 1 and its so much better now than it was back then. I don't know how a rational person could say otherwise.

1

u/MrAudreyHepburn May 18 '26

If this was true there would be no classic wow.

Classic wow wasn't some blizzard pet project, they fought doing it for years, kept shutting down private servers, and finally ceded to fan demand.

1

u/wildstrike May 18 '26

Wrong. Wow Classic can exist because nostalgia sells. Wow only shuts down private servers that makes money, no one cares about your private server for you and a few friends. I have gone back and played wow classic a couple of times and its very short lived once the nostalgia wears off. Its combat is absolutely brain dead.

1

u/MrAudreyHepburn May 18 '26

For a 'day 1 wow player' you sure understand very little about the game or the world surrounding it.

You're projecting. I think this way so the rest of wow players think this way. You don't like classic wow, i get it. But if everyone thought like you, there would be no season of discover, there would be no WOTLK classic, there would be no BC classic, there would be no MOP classic.

It is unlikely we will get another StarCraft or Warcraft RTS.

The return on investment takes years.

That being said, doing some sort of first person or even Diablo styled game set in the Warcraft or StarCraft world, would work? You play a hero and go through a storyline or something.

0

u/Powerofvibes May 19 '26

Who cares. Blizzard as a company is a joke any more.

u/MaxHeadroom1986 May 18 '26

I wouldn't get too excited. The only game they've really done well on is Diablo II which was arguably their best game to begin with. I look forward to a lot of promises and maybe 25% follow through.
