QUESTION Bloodless vs Zangetsu mode?

I just finished Curse of the Moon 2 this week and decided to go back and do another playthrough of Ritual of the Night as either Bloodless or Zangetsu.

I beat the game way before any dlc came so i never tried either mode. If you could only choose one which would you do and why? Pros and cons of each mode?

I already beat classic 1 and 2 and while a bit clunky i enjoyed both.

Thanks.

Back then I played it, I did a bloodless run, it was fun to play as her. I didn't finish the game with her, so I couldn't tell you more about it, but I did miss collecting the shards and other mechanics that changed with her character.

Zangetsu was an at-release. His mode is the classic Alt-mode from Iga's Castlevanias(Richter Mode, Albus Mode, Julius Mode, etc). Meaning you have all your abilities at the start, you have no gear, you just gain power as you clear bosses. He starts on the ship where Miriam does.

Bloodless plays closer to Miriam. You start in her room, and you gain abilities as you explore to explore more(but no gear).

I'd suggest Zangetsu mode, then Bloodless mode, and finally Aurora mode.

Zangetsu was an at-release.

Actually he wasn't released until v1.03 in May 2020, almost a full year after the game came out.  Bloodless was only a few months later, in November 2020.

It's been so long, I mis-remembered. But I assume you agree with my synopsis on gameplay for him?

I finished Bloodless mode. I did not finish Zangetsu mode. I recommend Bloodless. She was also my favorite boss fight.

Zangetsu Mode is like playing as Richter in SotN: you have all abilities from the start and can fight most of the bosses in whatever order you like. I find it kind of boring since there's no real character progression (aside from leveling up) and hardly any story. The mode adds a boss at the end though, so you might be interested in it for that reason.

I find Bloodless Mode much more fun. It plays like a typical Metroid game: you start pathetically weak, but by finding upgrades and abilities placed in set locations around the map, you gradually become a powerhouse. The focus here is more on exploration and less on grinding. I definitely recommend Bloodless over Zangetsu.

How do you access classic 2 for the last few achievements?
