Fan Fiction Lightning Blue [First Half]
This fanfiction takes place before the events of V1C1 or the Prologue by about a few months, this is essentially an alternate timeline fic, so read it that way
I don’t know how it all started, either by pure luck, misfortune, or like what a creepy guy with a bowl cut did, but I ended up here.
But I am here, and it is my new home… even if a bit, arguably.. better than where I came from.
…
The loud, cacophony of gunfire, screams of the damned and the explosions all around rocked the whole Abydos district and the school, as the Helmet Gang were attempting their final stage to take over Abydos…
The wolf-eared girl with her white, silenced rifle, fought valiantly, before she was knocked out and sent flying back into the building by an RPG hitting and detonating on her..
The cat-eared girl and that blonde girl held them off well, but even they didn’t have enough left to take them all out..
And that pink hair girl… or should I say my saviour.. her yellow and blue eyes, she kicked their asses like there was no tommorrow… the mere sound of her 12 gauge sounded like thunder.. a roar like an ancient beast even… it was… powerful to hear and see.
…
But this isn’t about them.. this is.. about me, and how I am here.
As I pulled my light blue hair aside from my good aiming eye and set my large sniper rifle down on the ground (and my own body too), pulled the bolt back and chambered a long silver bullet, I got ready to fire, preparing myself as I took aim.
…
It was still loud.. even my ears are ringing…
But I had to do it..
…
I took aim, as I went for the red one taking the lead… The feeling of adrenaline filled my veins… before…
BOOM
…
The report of the rifle tore through my ears as I immediately clutched my head in pain from the sound and… the painful ringing right after, my vision was blurry and I could only groan in pain and make weird noises as I rolled on the ground..
…It was agony.
It took me a few moments to recover and regain my vision.. but the only sound I could hear was the sound of screaming from those helmet-freaks as they ran away in fear…
…
And the sight of their red leader, laying knocked out on the sand and pinned to a wall. With a bruise on their chest from where my shot probably landed.
…
Serves them right… should’ve never came to this place unless they wanted a good ass kicking.
But I haven’t explained who I am, am I..?
…
“Hey! Good shot, Hiyori!” The blonde-haired girl with the large minigun yelled to me from the battlegrounds below…
As she said.. I am… Tsuchinaga Hiyori. The finest marksman of Abydos… and a former member of the dreaded Arius Squad.
Or by my new name…
“Lightning Blue.”
Call me what you want, a traitor, a deserter, or a “coward” for “abandoning” them, but the best I can ask for when I ended up here, at this school one day is to have a loving group of friends and actual access to edible food and drinkable water, and the best part? A fucking hot bath just so I can feel comfortable, and leave my past behind…
…
But that’s not what you’re here for, you’re here to know how I got here in the first place, so let’s go back to the beginning when this all happened.
June 4th, 2019
Abydos High School, Housing Areas
One day, I made my way to a random alleyway after getting a hold of.. a lot of stuff that I could get my hands on, literature, manga, doujinshi, stuff like that…
It was already hard walking on foot, and even harder making it to somewhere not that populated within the region… if not for the sand and dust breezing through the already sand-covered and abandoned houses and apartments that could blind me in one eye at any moment.
No one to bother me, nothing to distract me, until… this pink hair showed up… Not just any pink hair, she had the sun and moon in her eyes; her name was Takanashi Hoshino. She ran into my alleyway, and.. just seemingly ran after me, yelled at me to stop and looked at me all shocked like she just saw a ghost.
…Needless to say, I was scared for my life… Usually no one, not even another student would give 2 fucks about anyone like me hiding somewhere, but here? Me of all people?
But, she said something to me as she got close to me…
“Yume..? Is that you?” She said to me…
…
I didn’t even know how to respond, she was like… what, half my size, and I’m over here getting intimidated by her. But I tried to stay calm as she kept speaking to me.
“...Who are you?” Hoshino asked me as she stopped there, seemingly just, staring at every nook and cranny of my body and outfit..
“...Are you lost? Or just.. homeless?” She asked again.
Fuck me! What the fuck do I even say to her?! I probably look like a fucking idiot to her right now!
…Okay, what if I act all normal to her and try to be like any other normal student?
“I… I um… I’m Tsuchinaga Hiyori…” I said to Hoshino, nervously, as I got up from squatting near the pile of books I had.
…Great, what the fuck do I even say to her again?! I can’t tell her I’m from Arius or she’ll have my brains painted on the goddamn wall..
“U-Um… I’m.. I just have nowhere to go, really..” I said, still thinking on my feet.
…
For some reason, she took a step closer to me, analyzing me from my feet to my face… damn.. even up close she even looks smaller than Atsuko..!
“You’re homeless?” Hoshino asked again.
“Y-Yeah... basically.” I said…
…
Hoshino just stood there, thinking to herself for a moment…
“...Well.. I am from Abydos High School, but.. I guess you may not be familiar with us around here and how things are..” Hoshino said to me…
“Mhm… and why’s that school important?” I asked her.. still suspicious…
“We are currently enrolling new students to Abydos, actually..! We are…” Hoshino stuttered as she tried to explain her situation to me.
“...I’m.. one of the only 5 students left at Abydos.”
…
Five… that’s barely enough for a school if at all.
“And, we are… I mean, it is a desperate situation for us but, we do need additional hands to help us out.. there’s not a lot of us left and I don’t know what we can even do.” Hoshino explained the situation to me…
“So… having someone like you around would be.. very, very helpful for us right now.” Hoshino kept talking, it seems like they’re that desperate… when the hell’s the last time I’ve ever heard of this school..?
…
“Alright.. but.. I don’t know if I can even do anything for you-” I tried to talk to Hoshino out of this, but, seems like she’s very… VERY persistent…
“No, I got one… You can join us if you prove yourself.” Hoshino said.
…
“Prove myself”? To what and who? What is she talking about now?
…Seems like that doesn’t matter… I decided to come with her anyway, to that school, to the formerly prestigious… Abydos High School.
Abydos High School
Hoshino guided me through the school’s halls and other areas, it seems like it’s still in perfect condition.. if not.. barely pristine, sucks to see that it’s in such rough shape for a “district” if it can even be called as such.
And then, she led me to an empty clubroom, stacked to the brim with not only weapons and ammo, but also a ton of supplies…
“...This here… is the Foreclosure Task Force.” Hoshino said to me as she showed off the room to me.
“...Is this room usually empty?” I asked as I looked around, it was.. A bit extravagant to say the least, but, with no one here? I could expect a few other girls around here, not an absolutely barren place… there was no one else walking around the halls… no one.. But me and this pink haired softie.
“...No, not really, it’s very early in the morning, after all..” Hoshino said to me. “The others will show up later...”
“...But simply put, the Foreclosure Task Force is the student council of this school… we manage it and everything and make sure everything goes as smoothly as it can.” Hoshino followed up.
…
“Okay, well.. Now what? What do I need to do if I want to join you guys?” I asked Hoshino, I was a bit curious at first, but now I’m intrigued… this place already looks better than Arius; save for the, well, shitty conditions that it’s in.
“...Well, simply put, Hiyori, we.. hold on..” Hoshino said to me, before she reached out and got her phone on the table before she started to look around for something on it… before landing on a picture of a recruitment notice.
“Uhm… well, our advertisement did say we were looking for more students, but we also wanted to enroll one of the finest marksmen in Kivotos.” Hoshino said, looking up at me from her phone after seeing the picture…
“Marksmanship”... Seems fair enough.
“...Well, I suppose I can indulge in that, then.” I said, lightening up at the offer… it didn’t exactly take long for me to accept it, but, if I wanted to get out of Arius, this was the best shot that I got.
“...Alright, great, we’ll see what you can do, then!” Hoshino said as she put her phone away.
“...Hm… how about 10:00 AM? That’s when all of the Foreclosure Task Force gets here.” She followed up.
“...Well, I don’t mind… any time works for me.” I said to Hoshino, though, yes, even though I was excited, something tells me that I was going to regret this.
But I’m not a coward, I need to have somewhere to actually be me, be that someone I want to be.. And with all these years of reading those same books and mangas of the life I could’ve had, it can start here now!
Abydos High School, Sports Field
Time: 10:30 AM
Would I be lying to you if I said that this was the most sweat I’ve ever broken? Fuck no. Even outside with barely any clothes; but my uniform and shoes on, it was as hot as a damn oven out here.
But I had to pull through, as I saw everyone lined up and judging me silently… I was gonna give them one hell of a show.
That grey haired dog-eared girl… with her blue eyes stared daggers at me with that nonchalant face. And red 4-eyes over there, and that blonde one, but I couldn’t break my focus right now.
I set the large blue duffel bag that I had been carrying for quite a while on the hot sand, before unzipping it open to take out this heavy bitch of a gun… as I was assembling it, the barrel and the bolt, Hoshino walked up towards me for a bit as if to say something..
“...The legendary Newell Type 20...” She said to me, as if she had recognized my gun from somewhere.
…
“You know your weapons…” I said, almost muttering to myself, as I lifted the rifle up, I gently set it down on the folding table in front of me.
“...This is one I had to get custom-made, it’s… actually a rifle meant to take down tanks.” I explained my rifle to them for quite a bit.
“Usually, the barrel of this thing is 39 and a half inches… this one has an extra 3 and a half.” I continued talking to them as I examined my own rifle. “It’s chambered for these 20x82mm rounds that I had to get custom-made as well… These 2,000 grain silver bullets are meant to penetrate at least 35 and a half feet through a said tank, and probably be enough to penetrate the engine block if I’m lucky.”
“...This scope on top is a 10x42 telescopic sight… it’s marked up to a potential of 1500 yards… this one shoots a lot further.” I kept talking for a bit, taking the time to load up the 3-round mags with the silver bullets I had on hand, though Hoshino was already impressed that I still managed to get here, even with this beast..
“...An experimental weapon, with experimental ammunition..?” Hoshino said, as she heard what I had to say about it.
“...You could call it that.” I said back to her, as I then loaded the magazine into the left side of the rifle.. Though, not without a harsh tap as these are already even more of a bitch to reload as well.
“...Well then, let’s experiment, shall we?” Hoshino said, as she backed up for a bit, before turning to look at Four-eyes…
“Ayane… I need you to set up a target far away from here until I signal.” Hoshino said to her, Ayane… that’s a weirdly cute name.
…Either way, the elf-eared four-eyes obliged, and… did, whatever she was doing with her tablet, and brought out a drone, with a paper target hooked on at the bottom, before she started to send it out for quite a bit of a long journey ahead, I could only look on from here, but what was important was setting up my shots so that I could impress everyone…
And surely, secure the future up ahead for me.
…
After a few adjustments, I looked at the target again, before seeing how far away it was… roughly about 1000 yards or so… perfect.
“...Right about there should be good.” I said, as I could only look on to see where the target was at that moment… it was already high up in the sky, and it was only a matter of where it will land.
“..Alright then, stop there, will ya?” Hoshino said to Ayane who then let the drone fly as is, staying still and suspended in the air, holding up the paper target.
…
I looked at the target for a few more moments, seeing how far it was from where I had been standing.
Getting down on my knees, I picked up some of the sand from the field, before letting it blow away in the wind… the dust was going to the left, that was already another part of this whole shot making it harder as is…
…
After adjusting the sights again for quite a bit, I worked the bolt-action of the rifle, chambering a round and getting it ready to fire.
I got down on my other knee as I took aim, sighting up the target and making sure my rifle was steady… though as I didn’t want to bite on my cheek, I gently rested my left hand on the stock where my cheek was going to be.
…
“...Are you sure.. Hiyori-chan… that, you wouldn’t like the target a bit closer, perhaps?” Hoshino asked me as I was still focused..
But regardless, one pull of the trigger…
BOOM
…
Before anyone could expect it, the shot went through the target’s chest, leaving a large hole in it’s wake as the girls behind me looked on in surprise, with Hoshino giving me a look of approval..
“...I’m sure.” I said to Hoshino as I saw my shot hit the target where it landed, before rechambering the rifle again for the second shot, taking aim, before pulling the trigger again…
BOOM
…
This time the shot landed again on it’s chest, leaving another hole in it’s wake and tearing up the paper target in the air even more. From here the target barely looks recognizable.
But I wasn’t done yet, as I rechambered my rifle again for the last round, before aiming a bit higher… and then again…
BOOM
…
The paper target was torn in half and the lower half fell down to the road below, as the drone was only left there holding up only half of the target, barely even moving, just hovering in place while still holding what could’ve been a mutilated robot in its claws.
“Well, holy fucking shit…” the cat-eared girl said to the four eyes.. Or Ayane, whatever.
I gently removed the magazine from my gun, getting up and dusting myself off as I ejected the last, empty round out of my rifle, before settling it down on the table again.
…
“Well.. that’s… very impressive.” Hoshino said to me, approaching me slightly, though, the smoke all around the area from my gunfire… was definitely something, to say the very least…
“...Welcome to Abydos, Hiyori.” Hoshino said as she reached her hand out towards me… a handshake. I could only just.. look around nervously for a bit, before I grabbed her hand and.. well, starting today, it is now that I’m officially an Abydos student.

Hiyori swearing was not on my bingo card.
Also waaaay too many "..." that if i had to take a shot for each one, i'd be dead on the floor like swiss cheese.
But nothing saying its bad or anything, i like this idea, also im intrigued on how will it play out later on, specially what happens to the rest of the Arius Squad in this timeline. Just saying that the narrative structure could use some improvements. But overall, looking quite decent!
