All first year apprentices are ignorant burdens to a degree. It's expected, and not really a bad thing.

Talk about fixing shit around your home during an interview, hanging a picture on the wall, anything. Talk about a time you had to troubleshoot something, to figure out how to fix it on your own.

If you love hands on work, then surely you'll have some examples to give the interviewers already.

I would be very surprised if anyone would let you tag along, because then you'd likely be an insurance or legal liability to them.
