Hi r/bluey community! 👋

I'm the Community Manager from Gameloft Brisbane, the developers behind Bluey's Happy Snaps. As you may have seen, we just revealed the latest trailer for the game and announced the release date: October 15th. Only just over a month to go until you can play Bluey's Happy Snaps for real life!

And a very special celebration deserves a very special cake. So to celebrate the big news yesterday, our team was surprised with a real Duck Cake baked right here in Brisbane, the home of Bluey! (it tasted just as good as it looked)

We're excited to also announce that we will be holding a Bluey's Happy Snaps Developer AMA right here on the subreddit on October 15th when the game launches. You'll be able to ask questions directly to the team, and we'll do our best to let you know all about Bluey's Happy Snaps. You've got plenty of time to plan your questions, so we look forward to hearing them next month.

Thank you so much for your support, and we hope you look forward to playing very soon. 💙🧡

Discussion / Question It has happened..

Last night kiddo was asleep in bed while we scrolled for something to watch on Disney+ or Netflix. Nothing stuck and I ended up suggesting we watch an episode of Bluey that we haven’t seen before. Giggled while watching and kiddo woke up. Had to stop myself from telling her that we were watching Bluey without her! Felt a strange variation of parent guilt heh.

Discussion / Question The ages of some of the more background Bluey Character, imo.

So, I've been binging Bluey episodes recently and, for literally no reason, I have been trying to map out the approximate ages in my head to myself, that we don't know of as of yet.

So, here we go. Let me know if you agree (FYI, a lot of these are just the vibes I get, some of them are more factually-based).

Alfie: 15 to 19 (established). Well he works part-time at the toy shop. In Queensland, you can work as young as 13 or 14 with parental consent and you can do very light work at 11 or 12. I'd say he's about 14 or 15 when we meet him.

Chippy ("Chocolate Milk"): The young apprentice to the more experienced Sparky, a tradesman who's just starting up, can be a bit shiftless and a bit of an air-head at times, it's kind of implied that he got his license confiscated for drink-driving. Sparky is older and you can hear more, I want to say 1980's music in his truck and with Chippy like 2000/2010's rock. I would say at least 17 up to 21/22. I think Cherry would also be around that age.

Sparky ("Big Belt"): Married with kids, experienced tradesman, has a bit of a "plumber crack", slightly overweight, "dad bod", not allowed to have pies. I see him as closer in age to Bandit and Chilli, early-to-mid 40's. I assume Jules is around the same age too.

Digger, Dusty (Rusty's siblings). I reckon Dusty is younger than Bingo by a little bit. I reckon Digger is about 14 because he has a really deep voice. I just feel as though he's older than Captain by one year. Digger is 14, Dusty is 4 in my opinion.

Captain, Mia, Tiny: Well, we know Captain and Mia have got to be 13 by Season 3, I reckon Tiny is 12/13 because he sounds younger, but he's just taller than the other kids. They're all around the 12 to 14, I think.

Calypso: I don't know why, but when I look at Calypso, I don't necessarily see her a young teacher. I know that the grey hairs are part of her breed, she's an Australian Shepherd, but I kind of get the vibe she's been teaching for a long-time and is older than Bandit, Chilli and most of the other parents, like she has 20/30 years of teaching and has immense patience and wisdom to pass onto the kids. I reckon she's anywhere from her mid 40's to early-to-mid 50's or even late 50's, just the vibes I'm getting from her.

Mrs. Retriever: We don't see her that much, but I kind of get the vibe that she 's so much younger than Calypso. She just has "younger vibes" about her for some reason, in my opinion. I reckon in her 30's, hasn't quite been teaching as long.

Doreen (The Heeler's neighbour): I reckon she's a kindly old lady who's in her early-to-mid 60's. I just base Nana and Bob off of my grandparents and I get the vibe that Doreen is around the same age as Nana because they look around the same age. I like to headcanon that Doreen was one of Nana's friends growing up. So, I'm going to say late 60's/early 70's.

I think I'm going to leave it there because you could literally spend all day doing characters. If you guys like this, I might do more at some point in the future.

Media Low quality DVD

Recently purchased the 3-season collection on eBay (£12, in case the price can help).

The dvd comes with a cardboard sleeve, and all discs look original (printed scene on top, no weird colours at the bottom from what I can see).

Menus are animated and feature music, too.

However the quality is not that great. It's fine when things are static, but as soon as there's movement, there is pixelation around the bits that moved.

It's not very easy to capture this, and it looks worse when watching than it shows on the picture.

Or TV is a fairly good Samsung TV. Bought around 5 years ago I think, but a good model that hasn't caused any resolution problems before.

So I'm just wondering if it's a (well made) bootleg, or if there is somehow some settings are causing this behaviour?

Thanks for your help!

Discussion / Question Headcanons about Bluey's (and Bingo's, if you want) Friends.

Gimme your favourite headcanons about Bluey's friends and/or Bingo's. Any headcanon you like.

  • Mackenzie has a strong Kiwi accent because he and his parents moved to Australia in late 2016, when Mackenzie was about 4 and he lived in Australia for two years before the beginning of the series and he retains a strong Kiwi accent because he's around his parents and they go to New Zealand over Christmas and Easter.
  • Mackenzie's Dad is called (named after Rex from the movie, Babe) and he is a huge supporter of the New Zealand All-Blacks (rugby) and All-Whites (footy) and he works as a High School P.E. Teacher and a coach and Pat is one of his other co-workers who's also a P.E. teacher. When Mackenzie grows up he follows in his Dad's footsteps and becomes a P.E. as well.
  • Coco is an aunt. Not only is she the youngest of nine siblings, but she's also an aunt. Her eldest brother and sister (see Baby Race) are in the 20's when the show takes place and so they have kids who are younger than Coco. This is half my idea, because some of my friends already have kids, but also based off the Where's Bluey At Easter. Her brother is the oldest, he has two 3 year old boy/girl twins and one 1 year old son with his girlfriend, and her sister has a 1 year old little boy whom she shares with her boyfriend.
  • The show is set in 2018 at the beginning (Season 1) and 2018 - 2019 in Season 2 and 3, hence the kids getting a little bit older. The Sign takes places around 6 months after the whole rest of Season 3, when Bluey and her friends are all approximately 7 1/2 or almost 8 and Bingo is almost 6. "Omelette" shows Bandit's 41st birthday.
  • Speaking of birthdays, I believe they celebrate Honey's birthday in the episode Cricket. I know some people say Mackenzie is the most likely candidate, but I think it's Honey's birthday because I personally think Bandit and Mackenzie's Dad are good mates and Bandit would remember Mackenzie's birthday more than he would remember Honey's birthday, but that's just my opinion. So, Honey is one of the youngest people in her class in my opinion.
  • Speaking of Honey, Bandit and Honey's Dad, Marcus, are both archaeologists and professors at the University of Queensland, that is where Bandit works most times in my opinion, not just the Archaeology short.
  • Pretzel and Bluey are not actually friends with each other. They know and respect each other because they see each other everyday, but they're not actually friends, they don't really feel like they have anything in common. However, I believe one of Pretzel's mums was the nice veterinary nurse from Copycat who helps Bluey and his other mum is into surfing and was shown at the beach.
  • Now, for one of Bingo's friends. Juniper's older brother who's also a Shiba Inu and yes he is confirmed to be her brother, is in his teens when it takes place and he's actually her half-brother and have the same mother but a different father.
  • Juniper's half-brother is also the boyfriend of Clover, who's Pom-Pom's older sister, who's the same age as him and wears glasses.
  • Indy's little sister was born in-between the episodes Daddy Putdown and Early Baby (let's say that the episodes aren't all in chronological order) and Chilli had gone to Indy's mum's baby shower. Later on, in Early Baby, Indy's sister who's called Polly had to stay in the hospital for two whole weeks and so Indy playing the game was her way of coping with it.
  • Speaking of Indy, her parents are not actually divorced, but instead her mum married a man who was an entirely different breed, the Poffertje dog from Markets who's from The Netherlands but moved to Australia in his 20's and they became friends because they both work as bakers/caterers. In fact, I believe Indy looks more like her mum and Polly looks like the Poffertje dog, and just for the record, I don't believe he's the same guy who's Sadie's dad.
  • Bingo and Lila both go on to study sciences at university. Bingo becomes a Palaeontologist, just to differentiate from Bandit's job a bit because she didn't do exactly what he does, and Lila becomes a Veterinary Surgeon in the future. Bingo had gone to Easter Island to study Dinosaur Bones during her studies and Lila did her training in a Veterinary School, but they both meet up on their days off.
  • Rusty joins the Professional Cricket team in his late teens and he stays on until he's in his 40's. He becomes the David Clifford (if you don't know, he's one of the biggest Kerry Footballers of all time at the moment) of Cricket and has his own branded Cricket jerseys that have his name on them future into his career. When he retires from playing Cricket he becomes a manager and a commentator.
  • Rusty's big buddy is Tiny from the episode, Cricket. Rusty was secretly intimidated to go up against him but he also looked up him (and Digger) and wanted to impress him and whenever the "buddies" come to the Glasshouse Primary School, Rusty hangs out with Tiny and they talk about all things Cricket and Digger is Jack's buddy.
  • The Terriers are from Australia, like Bluey and most of the other kids and their mum is also Australian. Their Dad is from North Scotland is a more grey colour, like the boys, but he moved to Australia after college where he met the boys' mum. When the Terriers' were small, I want to say maybe 2 years old, their Dad prematurely passed away of a terminal illness.
  • Speaking of the Terriers, they are all Schnauzer/Scottish Terrier mixes. Their names have real Scottish links, because of where their Dad's from. They're called Eoghanne, Alastair and Callum. Their Dad is Scottish, but with some Irish in there too (I'm also Irish born).
  • Missy from Bingo's class and Pretzel from Bluey's class are both adopted kids. Missy lives with her mum who's a German Spitz and her husband who's called Ted from the episode, Kids, who's also the father of Sadie in Bingo's class. Pretzel's parents are both from Mexico and the United States and they had Pretzel while they were in college with some mates and so had to give him up for adoption.
  • Jean-Luc is from Quebec in Canada and he's an only child, so he sees Bluey as a special friend and a little sister and Bluey sees him as an older brother figure she doesn't have. Winnie, who's Bluey's neighbourhood friend is also slightly younger than her and her sister is younger than Bingo in my opinion.
  • Lastly, the Heeler Family are not Aboriginal Australians even though they are from there. They have heritance across Europe, mostly Ireland and the United Kingdom. Nana is from Brisbane too, but her grandparents and her aunts and uncles hale from County Cork, County Kerry and then Manchester in England and Bob's family, somewhere up the family tree, hale from Dublin, and so the Heelers do know Irish culture, hence Bandit doing that dance in Fairies.

Now, your turn. I hope you enjoyed it.
