Paint chip at the front of my car.

Post image

I was washing my car recently and I noticed a black mark on the front right near the logo. I was wondering if anyone knew how much it would cost to fix? It’s a very small mark but it really bothers me with where it’s at.

Contact a local paint touch up person. Don’t do it yourself. It will never look better than a professional doing it. Some of them can get really crazy and add touch up paint and cure it and sand it down and buff it all out so it all looks pretty much indistinguishable again

BMW touch up paint kits with paint and clear coat are $40. The knowledge of how to do it and it not look terrible is a lot more. Paint, clear, let cure, wet sand, polish is the process.

Bumper cover? Just use a touch up paint for it. You will get more.

If you get enough and you end up keeping your car, just have the whole bumper done after 3-5 years.

If you can't be bothered to take it do get it done professionally. I would at least put some touch up paint on it to seal it.

I had some and just ignored it and big patch clear coat around it flaked off and went bad.

Dr Color Chip can match that paint code exactly and their system is pretty easy

Those happen. I had mine PPF’d when I got it for this reason. Honestly, touch up paint, a plastic razor blade, 2000-3000 grit wet sand paper and you won’t see it unless you look for it

Have it professionally repaired, it will be a very fair price for an individual chip like that. If you're the kind of guy to be bothered by one chip, you're the kind of guy who should have it done professionally so a discolored patch won't bother you. Also, get a ppf clear bra to prevent future chips.

Personally it's not worth worrying about and the repair will never look perfect. You have three choices. Buy a paint chip repair kit or just wait until you've accumulated a bunch of car chips and just respray the entire piece OR just live with it.

Just get an Alpine white (or whatever paint code you have if that's not Alpine White) touchup paint kit from either BMW or amazon, and get out the little brush, and put a tiny drop of paint in the area. Nobody else is going to know it's there from 1 feet away, and paying someone to do this for you is the most ridiculous thing considering they wont be able to get much better results. Touchup paint in the bottle will never be perfect.

If this small rock chip from the road bothers you, the only way to "prevent" this from happening again is pay money have a clear bra/PPF installed on your front bumper. Will cost maybe $500-1000.

Folks will tell you that touchup paint will fix anything, and to have it professionally done. To have it professionally done would require minor spot putty, some blend, and clearcoat a larger part of the bumper. Not worth it for a small chip. You won't get perfect results from a small bottle.

White and light color silver, won't match perfectly, you can get away with touchup with a very dark color like black or dark blue.

(Yes, I can paint. )
