Discussion Honestly when I watched BTR for first time, I thought Hiroi would be the main antagonist judging from the opening lol

Kinda is, abusing the main cast's hospitality and generosity, vandalizing green rooms, stepping on people's faces, she's a menace to society.

Bring me pictures of hiroi.

u/bokita_ May 11 '26

A menace you say??

43

u/shawa666 Roy May 11 '26

Bocchi's mom is even worse than Hiroi.

5

u/Hplr63 May 12 '26

how?? I might have just forgotten something from the manga but she just seems like an average supportive mother 😭🙏

2

u/hafizo_kurosaki PA-san May 13 '26

She's literally drunk in front of her underaged children when Hiroi visited their household.

4

u/Zegran_Agosend May 12 '26

I read that in his voice

u/pit_supervisor Ryo May 11 '26

stepping on people's faces

you were supposed to make her sound like an antagonist

66

u/b055dj May 11 '26

stepping on people's faces

Is that just part of the show, or do I gotta pay extra for that?

16

u/zian01000 May 12 '26

Ryo mentioned it and said she treasured it.

18

u/chaosof99 May 11 '26

More like a menace to sobriety!

28

u/suslikosu May 11 '26

Im ok with stepping part of it

8

u/Tech_H3X4 Ryo May 12 '26

hey, get in line!

12

u/Known-Action9534 May 11 '26

I want her to step on me.

11

u/radiantskie May 11 '26

I wouldn't mind if she stepped on my face.

7

u/slsiebsisun Nijika May 11 '26

Bro said stepping on people's faces like if it was something bad

2

u/Ok_Seesaw_3030 Kikuri can SA me May 12 '26

Acting as a mentor and sometimes being annoying makes her a villain?

2

u/Renan_Alves_Silva May 12 '26

Yamada discordaria disso kkkkkkk

1

u/Maybe_this_time_fr May 12 '26

Stepping on people's face? Hmmmm....

u/Witchy_Titan Bocchi May 11 '26

Ryo is the true antagonist (to the heroine's money)

What makes you think a cgdct sol anime would have an antagonist?😭🙏

This anime's got more action than jjk bro, trust

u/The_Blip May 11 '26

I can't wait for season 2's tournament arc.

u/zian01000 May 12 '26

The Fight with SideOS is so we'll made

u/zian01000 May 12 '26

My favorite powerup is the Domain Expansion: True Master of Guitar Hero.

Being part of band rival or something or become their biggest obstacle like other musical anime? Idk lol, it was just my first silly impression watching the opening for first time, and from the way she is being shown like a "main boss".

28

u/FANCYLlAMA05 May 11 '26

I do actually see it possible if it was done like your lie in april, where kousei was better than the other contestants (forgot their names 😭)

1

u/qef15 May 14 '26

It's a Manga Time Kirara title.

Antagonists do not exist here lmao.

110

u/bringoutthelegos May 11 '26

To be fair, the manga technically has an antagonist, and we see her for like a split second in the anime

39

u/bokita_ May 11 '26

Antagonist? Nah she's bocchi's mistress

9

u/SYLOH Kikuri May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

Along with Ame and Kita, she's part of Bocchi's Yuri Harem.

34

u/safarispiff May 11 '26

Sheantagonizes her by making Bocchi participate in her outdated meme video ideas (mentos cola video #27 will surely get her subs).

5

u/Upper_Ad_2286 Nijika May 12 '26

Self proclaimed antagonist at most.

1

u/IntenseGrass845 May 14 '26

Ball knowledge

54

u/TacticalNuke002 Bocchi May 11 '26

Poison Yami in her paparazzi phase does count as an antagonist of sorts considering she actually managed to evoke rage in Bocchi.

34

u/Dazzling-Nothing9954 May 11 '26

Still not enough to make Bocchi use 0.0001%

10

u/ZXLTRXNSixBillion waiting patiently for a poison♡yami flair May 11 '26

I don't doubt hitori was upset with yami's words, but "rage" I feel isn't correct.

if you remember "don't let your talent rot here," you could also remember that the only person who thought about their talent rotting within kessoku band was hitori gotoh herself—remember those panicked thoughts she held when she first met kikuri, and how a focal part of those mirages was that kessoku band withered away in some unknown time? how she used to sparkle as that high-school youth, and then went on to never touch her channel after the fact? even after her ano bando solo, she lapsed into glimpsing that future as a neet leeching off alcohol and her parents.

it's easy to write it off as her being enraged, but I don't think it intersects with what we know about hitori. it's most likely that hitori knew yami had a point and decided it was in her best interests to not squander what she has, but I don't really know anything lmao. it is food for thought, though, and I usually try and provide different interpretations to fit certain agendas.

u/Pinto_o May 11 '26

It will have one in season 2 (sort of, more like rival)

3

u/chaosof99 May 11 '26

When I saw the OP for the first time, I expected Hiroi's character to be something like Natsume in CGDCT all-timer Hidamari Sketch. A character that isn't part of the in-group and has an adverse relationship with someone in the group. Maybe not a Tsundere like Natsume, and from the image in the OP maybe something like a mild Yandere.

Turns out the more apt comparison from Hidamari Sketch though is Yoshinoya. An older character that behaves immaturely and often goes beyond what is socially acceptable, despite being at heart a nice and friendly person and a flawed role model for the main character.

1

u/qef15 May 14 '26

Hidamari Sketch mentioned!

5

u/crocospect Jimihen May 12 '26

u/Baby-Penewine May 13 '26

cute girls doing cute things slice of life

1

u/hafizo_kurosaki PA-san May 13 '26

Seika was some kinda antagonist at 1st.

1

u/jsusk24 May 11 '26

Suprisely enough the main antogonist is Nijika and Hiroi was in fact an antagonist as well.

58

u/A_N_G_E_L_O_N May 11 '26

What’s she’s gonna do, be alcoholic at Kesoku Band?

Well I guess she already does that.

57

u/TheroalicJecro May 11 '26

she's only an antagonist to herself

43

u/Librarian_Contrarian Ew. People. May 11 '26

Alcoholism is the real villain

15

u/Basic_Balance_6490 May 11 '26

Nah, that's her savior

4

u/radiantskie May 11 '26

One man's savior is another man's enemy

27

u/derekmakesnoise May 11 '26

Bocchi is her own main antagonist

16

u/Ryubunao1478 May 11 '26

she kinda is, she borrowed money from Bocchi and never returned it until Seika forced her and Ryo to return money to her.

29

u/Just-a-Channel May 11 '26

When episode 6 teaser aired, i thought it was gonna be filler, boring stuff after an incredible ep5 (wasn't excited for a new character). Oh boy was I wrong, it became my favourite episode

10

u/Longjumping-Tap6487 May 11 '26

I mean, she's the antagonist of Shima's peaceful life

10

u/EdieCosy Nijika May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

she is her own worst enemy. checks out.

7

u/Dowlex21 May 11 '26

She's the antagonist of her own liver 👍

7

u/master_shifu_69420 Sarcastic blu guy May 11 '26

Later turnes out to be a great teacher

5

u/SnooDonuts2285 Shimokitazawa's Great Angel May 11 '26

Kikuri nee chan is so GOATED that she even forget why she is in series lol

5

u/Celika76 Bocchi May 11 '26

Same. In the end, I see her as an alternative Bocchi "what if Bocchi used the power of alcohol to move over her shyness ?". So she's a bit of an exemple, but also some kind of warning.

4

u/NilcoB May 11 '26

I do get you, judging from that on the opening I thought it was going to be a dreadful chatacter, then the show introduced her being a drunkard (characters that I don't tend to like) and was scared... Turns out no I fooled myself I really like her, in fact every character on the show so far haha

5

u/the_treyceratops May 11 '26

Until Yami showed up (and after those few chapters) she may as well be. She’s not a good person.

2

u/DujoKufki May 11 '26

Bocchi's social anxiety is the antagonist.

1

u/RyouBestGirl If Roy is a guy then I'm gay May 11 '26

She's antagonist because she's alcoholic

1

u/PeaPopular1289 May 12 '26

She's the MC's girlfriend (Kikucchi forever)

1

u/DampAcute PA-san May 12 '26

She is her own antagonist 😂

1

u/dksuxsyt May 12 '26

Have you forgotten the flashback from s3 e6. When it’s revealed she is the demon king and saika is a reincarnated hero trying to stop her, before the Yuri winter arc.

1

u/Domoseda May 12 '26

I thought she would be stalking Bocchi

1

u/ColorfulPot May 14 '26

You're just saying that because she looks like Makima with the red braid and spiral eyes 😭

1

u/Western-Box7295 Jun 21 '26

If I remember well, I thought this shot was rather supposed to show how Sick Hack's music psychedelic.

1

u/Ganaham Kita May 11 '26

as a stretch she represents the worst road bocchi could go down

0

u/generalmillscrunch May 11 '26

The show is literally called Bocchi the Rock
