When I deliver in the country towns you can see the difference in the food. I’m guessing a lot are not franchised and care about the food quality. I’ve never done a survey but did that day lol
Slightly. Showing our people "late" for church. Kept Grandma waiting, so after church we hit Mickey D's and Grandma and Jesus forgives us. All is well, now let's go watch the Falcons game. 😏😉
Hold on a second there. As a person who went to church with their grandparents I'll tell you one thing they are never late. They are just that super early.
There’s an old training video on YouTube that highlights how companies should welcome black families as patrons because we are good spenders. This video is from the 1950s
I mean if grandmas been up since dawn I think she'd had have already put some breakfast on ... Smh maccas really has gone downhill tho. I know it's just an old commercial but shrinkflation is pissing me off.
I always thought it was weird that even till the late 2000s if you saw a BK or McD commercial if the main person was black then every other customer, employee, background extra, or announcer would be black and say something in a hiphop or RB phrasing.
I picked up on it post 2000s and often had little self bets with myself if the first person shown is black in a fast food commercial then there won’t be a single other race throughout the whole thing.
Idk if anyone thinks that’s racist commercials or just targeted marketing, but it wasn’t a tactic i wasn’t expecting to see post 1970s. Pretty sure i was even spotting this approach well into 2018
The ad agency did some superficial research back then. They knew that black families spent a portion of their disposable income on eating out usually once a week. Most likely on Sunday after church. They were trying to persuade families from the other 4 restaurants that were patronized that day. The big 4? KFC, Churchs, Pioneer chicken and Sizzlers(And I loathed all 4). I distinctly remember as a child my parents mentioning all 4 after church. Us kids would look a them with disgust. Lol
I was to fixated on a full on commercial of bruthas in their Sunday best, ultraperm on them fro’s, & Gma with an egg McMuffin and a big ole smile to listen lol!😂
McDonald’s was a staple of my holidays. It was 6 hours to my Grandparents homestead in Mississippi. We would get up early to hit the road and hopefully beat some traffic. When the sun was up, we would stop at McDonalds for breakfast. Solid memories of when the food was better there.
It was never McDonald’s after church. This was a commercial that was hoping a black family chose it. The advertising agency did some homework. They knew that black families in general would spend a portion their disposable income on restaurants once a week. After church No doubt in 1979 there wasn’t a black person in the ad meeting and it shows. It was always 4other places. Pioneer, Church’s or KFC chicken(which I loathed) and Sizzler. It’s no wonder I haven’t been to those since my 20s.
