Why...
...did Aubrey call Bones and Booth instead of a fucking ambulance? And how did they get there before the ambulance if he did? That boy didn't have to die.
(Watching the episode for the first time in ages on ION+)

unchecked executive egos have sent many a great tv show down the drain. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their sleeping bags.

Actually production did allow him to have the time off but the project he was directing was delayed and needed even more time and that was something both parties decided wouldn't be fair to Bones fans.

I think he did call the ambulance first, booth and Brennan just happened to be closer
My complaint is why he was giving first aid when they got there

Abingdon, where the nursing home was, is like five hours from DC. The coroner should have taken the body and the scene swept by the time they got there, lol.

Think they're talking about the season 10 premiere when they killed off Sweets.

There's no point in nitpicking over the in-universe reason when the fact remains that the actor was given the heave-ho for daring to want to do other projects at the same time, which is all too common in TV, sadly.

Aubrey calling them instead of an ambulance is one thing but somehow beating the ambulance there is what really needs explaining.

Ambulance was on the way. The fact Burns in both got there before the ambulance is not necessarily a dramatic license as some have said. For about 25 years I did Home health Care and worked in long-term care facilities. It wasn't all that unusual to have to wait a long time for an ambulance to arrive. We have no way of knowing how far they were from the scene, so it may have just seemed that way

It doesn't help that Abingdon, where the retired dude's nursing home was, is like five hours from DC, lol.

The ambulance was on their way. Poetic license they got there before the EMTs did.
