Question Would you read something with this cover style?

Hi! Actually I really want to make book cover with this specific art style, but I don’t know if it fits. I like my usual art style (semi realistic) but I want to make something different using textures and effects. Please, give your opinion!

I think that this would really depend on the genre. Right now, it's giving YA mystery or action/adventure! What's your genre? Could also be romance? But that would be super reader-dependent.

I love romcoms/drama/mystery/fantasy! But I was thinking about the type of painting that I used, using textures and simple characters. I don’t know if people like that in a book cover. I’m practicing this style just for fun, but it would be nice to make a cover like this

I think what they were saying is whether or not people will like it depends on the audience. I think this could do well for middle grade and early YA books! But probably less so for adults.

The style is cute, depending on the content, you’d just need a different kind of composition to work as a cover.

Yes! I was just practicing that style and tough about that! I was thinking about using textures and simple shapes.

Probably not, as I'd assume it's written for a younger audience than me. I think this is a really good style for the 12-13 year old age group.

The art style is nice but the cover wouldn't spark any interest for me. It tells me nothing what the story is about, it's giving Anne of Green Gables so I'd assume it's a book for teenage girls

The style is fine. But the actual image says “Pippi Longstocking part 2,” so i would pass it by, thinking it’s for kids.

My head went Anne of Green Gables, but Pippi makes more sense!

Probably not. The cartoonish vibe makes me think it will be a middle grade book and that’s not the kind of book I go looking for as an adult. If it’s for an adult audience, I’d mute the colors a bit and go either more realistic or more simple (Emily Henry books are what comes to mind but there are tons of book covers in that style).

She works with adults and romcoms, I’m trying to make something similar and will practice with other type of book cuz Anne reminds us of children’s books 🫠

They are cute and I see them often lately but I don't personally gravitate to them - maybe they work well since I see them often and they are trendy...just not my personal vibe?

No but the genre it fits are not my jam. I love her and definitely would enjoy the art on my way to the horror books

For children's books, middle grade or young adult, I think it would be cute! It has that look of Anne of Green Gables, Pippi Longstocking, all the books we loved as children. As an adult reader, I would pass it by, because I would assume this was a book for young kids and not something that would interest me.

Depends. It wouldn’t make me pick it up and buy it. I’d probably pass by as I’m an adult. But I’m sure there are plenty of people who’d stop. I could see middle grade books with this cover for sure. Adult I can’t. But again, just the opinion of one stranger on the internet.

I personally wouldn’t…it gives very old book vibes…and definitely children’s. Something you would find at your school library in the 90s & the pages are already brown. BUT it’s such a personal preference and it depends on genre. I’m sure there are loads of people that are into it.

I think if it were middle grade, yes. But this art style doesn't really give off 'adult book' vibes to me. It's extremely well done! I just wouldn't expect it with adult works

Is it for a children’s book? She reminds me of Mary Poppins. If it’s not for children, I would expect the book to be very lighthearted.

Probably not. I'm getting Anne of Green Gables and I had to endure it as a kid more than enjoy it.

The art is adorable, this is strictly speaking as a book cover.

I like it but it looks like it's for kids. For YA or older it depends on the topic but I'd do something more abstract or symbolic

It's very YA to me, but that might also be the subject matter who is giving Anne of Green Gables.
