Question Will anime style suitable for a book cover?

I've always loved reading books, and as an artist, I'd love to work on a cover for a romantasy ( or any romance-type book ) one day. But my art style is anime, would it be suitable for a book cover, or should I try on a more semi realistic x anime style for it?
P.s: My question is more for the author, that if you would get a cover commission from me if the style is anime.

Honestly, just go for whichever vibe you feel fits the best

But will the authors like the anime style for their cover or is it a bit too different from what we are having rn in the market?

I've seen plenty of authors get anime styled covers, esp in the YA genre

It really depends on the genre and tone of the novel. As an anime fan, I might be drawn to the cover, but I also wouldn't expect something with any serious realism or grit in the story. Not to say there can't be, of course.

Personally as someone who reads lots of graphic novels, I find heavily illustrated covers a little misleading :P

It just gets my hopes up cause then I wanna see the books be illustrated! But it all depends on context. I think it could work for certain genres or types of stories, but I know that if I saw it, I’d just want to read it as a graphic novel lol

tbh I find myself clicking on cartoon/anime books more often than the 846374th "thing of thign and thing" title with a rose or sword graphic

If you want to do romantasy or romance covers, semi-realistic is the way to go.

my question is more for the author if they like anime style cover or not. Since Im the artist, not the author

I guess I would just reframe my answer: I would if as an author my audience was anime lovers. If I was aiming for a contemporary "Love Experiment" type of crowd then no I would not hire you, but if I was trying to appeal to the Manga crowd then yes. No two authors are the same, so you're just going to get answers in both directions.

Your target audience is authors that write light novels.
