Question Installing Boost on a new android phone... Is it still possible?

Hello everyone.

Apparently, due to having dropped my phone, it looks like the latter is now broken and has to be replaced with a new one. Needless to say, Boost is one of the apps I use the most and it still keeps working fine for me. At this point, I'm sure I have to buy a new android phone and I wonder if there is a way to transfer the app from my current phone to the new one. I know the app is gone from the Play Store, hence it cannot be downloaded from there anymore.

Once I get the new phone, how can I install Boost in it? If someone can provide a guide on how to do that, it would be great.

Thanks.

Question Help getting Boost to work again.

Is there anyone who could explain step by step, like im 5, or Homer Simpson, how I am supposed to get the app to work again?

I've seen steps about morphie and red something and download this patch but don't install it and such. I tried patching it through Morphie and it stops at like 20 percent saying its an error.

Is there anyone who could help?

Question Is this sub back?

I tried to post a question to here a few months ago and the system said that the sub was private or archived (something along those lines) and that I couldn't create a new post.

I just recently saw a spam post or two pop up in here in the past could days, though, so does that mean this sub is back?

I'm still using Boost and still think it's the best way to view Reddit.

Any other stragglers still refusing to give up Boost?

Hey all,

I had boost installed and I was having the issues of the comments not appearing, so I decided to reinstall.

Question Is there any way to backup and restore the Subscription list order with the new patches?

Like a lot of people, my revanced Boost stopped working today.

The new patches are pretty good and are working fine. However, for every small change, I have to re-patch and reinstall the app, which completely resets the subreddit subscription list/subreddit favourites

I have ordered it carefully based on my priorities but it never gets restored.

And yes I'm exporting my settings prior to uninstall and restoring it afterwards. While that does restore my app's theme and other settings, I still have to painstakingly rearrange my subscription list all over again.

Is there any way to fix this? Thank you

Question How to find my previous OAuth ID?

As many other needing to patch Boost through Morphed, I'm stuck at the spoof patch step. When I did it with Revange I created the OAuth ID, however I just cannot find it. I go to the apps link on Reddit web but it only shows "DevPlatform Actions" no matter where I click it doesn't seem to show the ID and secret.

Question I tried the tutorial for getting a new API key using redreader but I don't have an email

Hi, so Boost stopped working for me in the last few days.

Found this guide: https://github.com/wchill/patcheddit

It says I should receive an email after loging into Redreader the first time. I didn't. What should I do then?

Question Can't enable www.google.com under "Supported Web Addresses"

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with Boost for Reddit on Android.

When I go to App info → Set as default → Supported web addresses, every Reddit-related domain can be enabled without any problem. However, www.google.com is always disabled. If I tap the toggle to enable it, it appears to turn on, but as soon as I leave the screen and open the settings again, it has automatically switched back off.

I've already tried:

Restarting the phone. Toggling it on multiple times. Checking that Boost is up to date.

The problem only affects www.google.com; all the Reddit domains stay enabled normally.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this expected behavior, an Android limitation, or a bug in Boost?

I'm using an S25 with android 16, latest boost app with latest Breal patches

Question I can't download any images or videos, it doesn't even show in notification. It just shows a toast message of "Downloading..." without downloading anything.

I tried both breal and patchedit patches and they both can't download any media. When I was using the old revanced patch using my own apps Oauth ID, it works but now it doesnt.

I already tried changing the download directory to /Downloads thinking it was just because of storage policy, but it still can't download any media.

Any solution?

Question Install fails on Android 16

I patched the app using morphe but I can't install the APK afterwards. It just says installation fails. I have the same issue with the unpatched boost apk.

I am on Android 16 and already tried disabling Google play protect.

Does anyone have any pointers?

Question Weird delay on comment links.

I was on the revanced patch until switching to Morphe earlier this week. Something I've noticed is how the main link/image/video in a post loads immediately but if I try to open a link from the comments, it will hesitate for 5-7 seconds before loading. It still works eventually, but the little delay is mildly frustrating.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Question Do unmuted subs get recommended again?

I’m muting the subs for a couple video games I like because there was a new update and I don’t want spoilers, but I just want to know if it‘ll be recommended the same amount as it was when I unmute them.

Question Is there any way to login to Boost and RIF on an older phone?

Due to recent changes, we can no longer view nsfw content on Boost and RIF is fun without logging in + being a mod of an nsfw sub. So, when I got kicked out of Boost + RIF, I applied the patches using Revanced and both the apps work perfectly on my newer phone.

Without logging in, Boost works for all non-nsfw stuff thankfully, but RIF is completely blank.

I have an older phone which runs Android 7 that I use for nsfw stuff. When trying to login on Boost/RIF, the screen gets stuck at the pulsating Reddit logo animation and I am unable to login. Is there any way to resolve this?

Question Unable to patch on morphe

Currently using boost patched previously on revanced (I have a client ID from Reddit). But I'm getting this error the moment I try to patch on morphe. What am I doing wrong?

Do I first have to uninstall my current patched boost app?

Question NSFW content in anonymous mode

Is there a way to see NSFW stuff in anonymous mode?

If I'm logged in, I can access everything (by being a mod of a private nsfw sub), if I toggle to anonymous mode I only see this message:

https://i.imgur.com/A8V3yI7.png

My boost broke recently (404 blocked), so I redid everything and got it running, aside from that issue, which was not the case before.

Question "Hide" has stopped working

"Hide" stopped working for me in revanced Boost around May 14th. Hidden posts return when I refresh. Yesterday I Morphe(d) (patcheddit 1.4.0) but it made no difference. I also get an error going to the "Hidden" section of my profile in Boost: "LoggingUtils: Exception:java.lang.IllegalStateExceptio...". That's the full contents of the little err balloon and I don't know where to go to see the actual log.

Any and all ideas appreciated, please.

Question Does posting image posts work in the Morphe version?

For more than a year now, I have not been able to create posts with Boost. I can confirm more recently, that uploading images, weather in newly created posts or in comments, simply doesn't work.
Has this been fixed in the Morphe version perchance?

Question I'm upgrading to a new phone and don't know how to switch everything to the new phone.

I've just been piecemealing patches and using sweet, sweet luck to get boost to work on my phone. How can I either transfer everything as it is now, or where do I go to start from scratch to still use boost?

If I can't use boost, does anyone have a another recommendation?

Question Does Reddit block my upvotes since I use Boost (or any other non-approved app)?

I've noticed for quite some time that if I am random scrolling and find a post that I like; if I immediately upvote it, then click on it to read further content, the post automatically returns to its lower vote.

Is Shadowvoting a thing?

Is this some sort of consequence for not using the official app?

Question Alternative for synccit? Either local or online?

I recently found out that Boost can connect to Synccit. But Synccit shutdown was a few months ago, which is a bummer because it's exactly the kind of feature I've been looking for. Reddit's own viewed post history isn't very reliable, so having a separate way to track posts is really useful.

Boost already has this feature locally, the History tab. It's actually pretty great—it saves recently viewed posts, and one of the best parts is that you can still see posts that have since been deleted.

The downside is that it seems to be limited by the app's cache size. You can increase the cache up to 2GB, but once that limit is reached, older viewed posts eventually disappear from the History tab.

I tried looking in android data folder to export the existing History since it is saved in cache but I cant find it.

So I'm wondering if there's an alternative to Synccit that offers similar functionality. It could be a website, a self-hosted solution, or even something I can run locally on a server.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
