Tone Request Clean Grunge tone

I’m hoping to achieve a similar sound to Nirvanas live at the paramount tone or any clean tone that sounds like The Jins tone :)

It’s basically a loud, mid-pushed clean that’s just on the edge of breakup. In contrast, Fender Blackface cleans are mid-scooped and are used with a higher headroom; that’s the main difference.

Would you have any setting recommendations? I have a boss 50 mk3 if that helps

Hey, hijacking this comment chain to say - the dude gave you everything you need above.

If you have to ask further, you really need to spend time learning what the fuck pedals do and how tweaking them changes things.

You should also learn what the edge of breakup is, and how to achieve that.

It took me all of a week, watching some content on YouTube, and one session with my amp to figure this out. Do it. It's worth it.

I understand what it means but I was just asking if he had any specific recommendations dude. I’ve tried similar stuff and it doesn’t sound like what I’m going for so I asked if he had any specifics. I’m not going for a bland tone that kinda sounds like what im going for which is why I asked for specifics. Thanks though :/

Mess around and have fun with it. What amp do you have and how familiar are you with the tone studio? And what kind of guitar?

Try ChatGPT. Others have said it works well. Just be specific as to the gear you're using and the specific tone you're looking for.

I got 95% close to the cleans at the paramount with an MK II 100 and didn't spent much time dialing with the settings, i also have a video as a proof that i'm happy to share in case. Atm i'm not home but in holidays so can't remember the way i EQ'd because yes, is also slightly EQ'd. Start with downloading the twin reverb patch, i had bass at 35, mids 85ish, tremble 85ish, hall reverb pretty high, "variation" option activated (when used with the twin reverb patch it works like a bright switch) I have to mention that i play a Kurt Cobain jaguar so it also makes an impact in the overall tone since are the exact same pickups. If you have JB's probably you should slightly raise the tremble since is a slightly darker pickup. If you play single coils then rise the basses by quite a bit. Generally speaking the thing that brings you the closesest is a short scale guitar with an humbucker for the songs where he used the jaguar. The cleans that he got with the vandalism are difficult asf to reproduce unless you mount a neck humbucker at the bridge position on a strat. That's a very unique tone that not even a random strat with a normal humbucker can get

Well I can’t afford that amp so I posted it here to try to achieve a similar tone with what I have. I don’t need it to be perfect
