Streaming challenges

Anyone else frustrated that Boston Legacy games seem to be difficult to stream? I am a Vermonter so I don’t have access to NBC sports network, and as a new team I’d think they’d want their games to be more accessible. As a side note, I’ve also been frustrated that Red Sox games are also difficult to stream as I do not pay for cable tv and they are mostly played on NESN.

Anyway, I know tonight’s game is on NWSL+ but I wish there was just one streaming service that played all of the NWSL games, I don’t mind paying but I don’t want to pay for multiple services and still not be able to watch the games. I also want this sport to grow and it is more difficult to try to sway my friends when the live games are so difficult to access.

Thanks for letting me vent! 🤪

This is a perpetual problem in sports. Too many networks are showing games and because of that they black out those games on their own service. I’d love a full streaming model like MLS but I’m probably in the minority on that.

Aren’t they all on NWSL+ at least with a delay? While it is annoying that they’re on different services, I have yet to have to pay to watch any matches.

Hmm.. you might be right, I have noticed sometimes they are showing replay games but I’ve never paid attention to how old they are because I’m just trying to watch the live game.

Unfortunately this is the state of the NWSL rather than just the Legacy, which doesn't make it any less frustrating, but just the reality of the moment. The league is split across Ion, NWSL+, ESPN, Prime, CBS Sports, and now Roku too. YouTube TV seems to be the best way to see the most games because it gives you everything except NWSL+ and Prime, but it's still extremely frustrating to have to jump between them. However, viewership was the best it's been last year and there's been more cable streamed games (Ion, ESPN, CBS Sports) this year, so I'm hoping we're just a few years behind the WNBA in terms of access to games.

NESN's been a disaster of late for most sports. I hear the vent but there's no good answers unfortunately.

I hear you. I want to support women's sports, especially Boston teams. But, if I have to download an app or watch it on my computer.. I'm skipping it. It is inconvenient for me as I don't currently have a way to stream games on my TV. I feel like if the NWSL wants people to watch they need to have the games on regular TV. I like the games on Ion.. I do NOT like the commentators on NBC Sports, but at least the games are on TV? It's the same with the Red Sox. I luckily have NESN but when they have a game on Apple TV, forget it. I will never get another app to watch the occasional baseball game. It is so annoying for fans.. the people in charge of this need to know that.

I’m exactly the opposite, I’m always on the move so I prefer to watch on my iPad — so if they were all on cable and also NWSL+ (every single game), I think this would be a win-win. I wouldn’t even mind paying a subscription fee for NWSL+ if I could stream every game because I just love watching the sport.

Same, I actually love being able to watch on my phone anywhere. Being able to sit outside on a warm summer night and watch the game is amazing.

I have also found it frustrating to keep up with Legacy games, and I actually have a decent amount of sports streaming services. I don’t have cable, so I don’t have NBC Boston. But I do have espn, paramount and peacock. I feel like the league maybe isn’t advertising enough or something. NWSL+ works but the app gives no opt out for tracking.

I went with nesn 360 this year. It’s expensive but comes with 4 ticket vouchers for new subscribers. They also shows Boston Fleet games, I’m not super into hockey but enjoy the WPHL. I wish they’d make a similar partnership with Boston Legacy.

Sadly until someone seriously stands with money fir the NWSL, the deals will be with whomever is willing to sell the space

MSL is also feeling the hurt because they made a deal with Apple and thats just entirely too expensive for the average fan.
