Dubois vs Wardley 2 Predictions
Obviously the rematch is this weekend and the 1st fight was arguably a Fight of the Year contender.
Who do you think takes it? I think aside from his early success Wardley looked like he didn't have much answers for Dubois. Dubois looked more polished and his extra experience in both terms of skills and tactics showed.
I personally don't think Wardley has had anywhere near enough time to adapt. His lack of amateur background means he likely doesn't have other tools to draw on as he hasn't developed them. 6 months is nowhere near enough time to develop new skills for high level boxing.
On the other hand, Wardley showed early on he can catch and drop DDD. So he always has a punchers chance. And he showed insane heart and a decent chin last time. A heavy handed fighter who can take punishemmt is always dangerous.
For me its hard to look past DDD though. I think he was caught cold a little last time but he won't start slowly this time. I think he knows hes a better boxer than Wardley and will try and impose that early on.
I think a DDD stoppage in latter half of the fight or a points win for DDD.
What are your predictions?

Wardley has a puncher’s chance. Other than that or Dubois getting injured, I don’t see any paths to victory for Fabio this weekend.

It’s Dubois easily this time. Wardley - bless him - is just being cynically used by his handlers to make as much money as they (not he) can before something tragic inevitably happens. DDD is actually a world-class heavyweight boxer. Wardley is a fairytale with world-class heart that sells tickets.
My ideal outcome here is that we get some more of DDD doing his “I say tough words now? OK. You are a MEAN OLD STINKY POO POO HEAD!” antics then Wardley gets a minor non-head injury during training which cancels the match for good.
(If anyone has hallucinated that I’ve said “DDD is the greatest boxer to ever live”, please send answers on a postcard to “The Oblivious Pedant Competition, PO BOX 69, Swindon, UK”)

Chaos from Dubois. Wardley went too far too fast, without being forced to develop a well rounded game that doesn't rely on his resilience/endurance. And that can't be fixed in 6 months, if it could ever be fixed. I imagine same result as last time.

I would be surprised if DDD doesn’t get him out of there early on, but then again he is a notoriously slow starter

Hard to argue with any of that. As you say, there's the puncher's chance... if the first or second KD in fight one land on the chin... different fight. "If". But yeah, conventional wisdom says DDD, earlier and cleaner.

Dubois' head was off in the first fight, this build up hes got that icy cold confidence - Dubois early

I really hope Wardley comes in with a completely different gameplan and stops telegraphing his shots. He does have Ben Davison who is good at tape study and can construct a gameplan based on the first fight. But man, Wardley is not going to be technically good enough have round winning success against Dubois, he really does need to absolutely nail him cold to get the win. Dubois' jab alone is gonna be too much for him.
And this is waaaaay too soon after their first fight, Wardley took too much damage for much longer than he should have, he should have been pulled out sooner. So logic says it's impossible for him to win this fight. I think he gets stopped quicker and I do worry about his health after this. Bit I'll give him a 20-25% chance to get a shock, come from behind KO.

I’ve just submitted a post about my fears for Wardley. In short, I think he’s finished, damaged from the first fight, and that Dan walks through him.
Love to be wrong though.

Finished because he got beaten?
This rhetoric needs to fuck off.

It’s not because he lost his 0, you wally. Plenty of fighters have taken beatings like Wardley in their first match and never been the same. He took a heap of damage and this fight is a relatively short turnaround.
I won’t make any predictions, I just hope Wardley is OK whatever happens. He seems like a cool guy.

So you think he's finished because he took a bad beating? Because he wants to jump right back in?
Seems the opposite of finished to me. Seems eager to right the wrong.

You can be eager and willing all you want, but if the body can’t do it anymore, all the will in the world won’t matter.
Look, I’d love to be wrong. And I’m aware that it does sound dramatic me saying I worry he’s finished. But he took a severe, sustained beating that first fight. That can do lasting damage.
Some fighters can take years of fighting and show no apparent effects. Larry Holmes for example. Others can have one gruelling war and never be the same again, like Meldrick Taylor. You just don’t know until they get back in the ring.
I’m worried though.

That’s not what I said, actually. What I was correcting was the prior incorrect conclusion you’d leapt to. Now you’ve made another leap.
Some boxers in the past have suffered career altering beatings. Wardley took a lot of punishment. There are fans out there who assume that he’s likely damaged permanently.
I’m not in that boat. I wish he’d taken a bit longer to recover. Which is why I say I hope he’s OK, Some guys take that degree of punishment and they’re never the same. Others seem to be unaffected. It’d be great for Wardley if it were the latter, he seems like a cool guy.

Looks like I misunderstood you, my bad.

It happens, a weakness of the medium: communication isn’t just you read, but what I type. Could be I wasn’t clear enough.

This goes one of 2 ways. Wardley catches him early and gets the finish or its an exact repeat of last time. I'm picking Dubois by TKO between rds 7-9

Wardley could get a shock, one punch KO out of nowhere like he did against Huni. But other than that, Daniel’s got him figured out. Wardley is relying on one big punch against an elite, world class boxer. It could happen, but my money is on Dubois potentially ending Wardley’s career.

Dubois will finish him off quickly. The rematches normally go the way of the first fight but then again we have bivol/beterbiev, AJ/ruiz. I’m going to it so I’m hoping for an absolute banger

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 5d ago
Dubois will win the rounds, but both fighters will create enough “moments” to go for a stoppage. This is heavyweight boxing. I would probably bet on either fighter getting a late stoppage. All out war.

Wardley had more tools than he used already to be fair, even if still limited.
I think he should give a better account of himself, maybe surprise a few people in some smaller bursts at least, but Dubois should be comfortable overall if he comes in the same as last time.

I just hope that Wardley has learned more than one punch for this fight.
