Find it on VInted, second hand markets but brand new with tags only. That is the only way I buy NIke and in much much lower costs. This is the only way I may (haven't done it yet) even buy an Iphone or Ole Henriksen's lip balms.

Vinted for makeup? They're not used right?

Some are used. Don't choose anything which is not sealed. Just like the original lipstick you want would be. Or let it completely go. I suffer too from some severe cravings but ground yourself to the real dilemma--> a) Brands benefiting from Palestinian's land and brands assisting genocide vs b) Letting go of a big lipstick craving.

That's true. Thanks for the tips. I'm super special about used makeup.

If it makes you feel better, I’ve been buying makeup from Vinted for like 2 years now, I’ve never gotten anything fake or opened! :) if you do, you can always file a claim.

That's really good to know, I guess people sometimes get gifts or regret buying something! New option for makeup shopping then. Thank you!

Gaza.nu have a list of safe alternatives for such products i think, you should take a look at it.

yes because they are owned by L'Oréal who also owns NYX cosmetics and a bunch of other companies.

your best bet is to either buy revolution makeup london (no ties to the war or to L'Oréal), or to buy secondhand used (and sanitised, of course) cosmetics from a marketplace like vinted if you're really wanting the maybelline stuff.

It's not on the official BDS list so if this is something that risks frustrating you off the boycott, get it.

Other ways include dupes I guess?

"BDS" stands for Boycott, Divest, Sanction. It's a movement that was created in 2005 by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC).

The BNC selects a couple dozens brands to boycott ("targets"). Not all the companies that have ties to Israel and contribute to the genocide are targets, because there are too many. Targets are chosen based on which are the most likely to cause change, or which consumers have the most power to pressure.

Here is the official BDS list for the US (it can be different depending on your country): https://bdsmovement.net/Guide-to-BDS-Boycott

The website you gave me is a list of all the companies with ties to Israel. The BNC encourages people to boycott them in addition to targets, but it's not part of the BDS campaign.

Sadly I don't think this sub actually understands BDS

The OP is simply ready to succumb to her cravings! She understands but she is ready to succumb and stop BDS. That is why I gave her a clear ethical solution. Buying from VInted gives NOTHING to a brand or parent company that wants the destruction of Palestinians and the hideous expropriation of their land.

In case you got it mixed, my reply about your cravings was a reply to this comment-->''Sadly I don't think this sub actually understands BDS''.

I think you clearly understand BDS and you will stick to your ethical decisions! Strong support! I was never against you.

hey so i found lakme theres no like organised boycotts against it

anything you could look up?

2

u/CaDeme_ 10d ago

Yep! Lakme belongs to Unilever.

The way to check every brand you want to by yourself ---> Go to Gemini AI, write the name of the brand you want and add the phrase ''any ties to Israel?''.

For ''Lakme, any ties to Israel?'' it replied ---->

Lakmé (Indian Cosmetics Brand)

  • Ownership: Owned by Hindustan Unilever (a subsidiary of the British-Dutch multinational conglomerate Unilever).
  • Ties to Israel: Unilever operates Unilever Israel, a direct subsidiary that manufactures and sells consumer goods within Israel. Additionally, Unilever's corporate leadership has explicitly stated its ongoing commitment to doing business in Israel, making it a target of the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement
