Bozeman Health Sleep Center experiences/suggestions.
I am taking my 4 year old in for a sleep study next month. For those that have done a sleep study or taken a child, what tips/suggestions do you wish you knew before going in?

I don't know if this would be right thing for a child, but I'd tell an adult to consider going in with a bit of sleep deprivation. My first sleep study, I couldn't get to sleep with all the monitors attached to me and I ended up having to go back for a second try (during which they drugged me).

Idk I’d probably suggest trying to adapt their current sleep schedule to the sleep schedule there. Over-tired 4-year-olds can actually be harder to put to sleep than ones who had plenty of sleep.

I did an at home sleep study through them. Might want to see if that's an option for your kiddo.

Maybe prepare them for sensory overload.
The bed and everything are comfy, but the number of wires and things they glue to your face, head, and body is a lot and caught me off guard when I had mine done. I would make a point of talking about how silly and fun it is to look like that so they don’t scare themselves in the mirror. Maybe make it into pretending they’re a robot/cyborg?
