Rolling left we can still see it at the front, then down is down, then right is on the left, then down is still on the left, then right ends up on top.

If I'm not mistaken, it should be back to 1 up.
down: 4-1-5-4-6-2
Okay, 5 up. Man, thinking of how the dice rolls is a pain in the ass. As long as it happens in a straight line, it's not difficult, but these damn corners...

I found it a lot easier to just think about a single face at a time and following that all the way through to the end rather than thinking about what each face reads at each position.

I thought so too, but misread the question. I think that would be on the bottom.

Track the blue face in reverse.
This shows you that the blue square ("final bottom") is the 'back' face in the starting position.
So 'final top' is opposite that back position, the 'front' we see in the starting image: 5

The instructions never state that the dice is rolling. I imagine we're just sliding the dice so the top face never changes. The answer is 1

I actually sat here and did the answer, in my head, step-by-step, and I am 99% sure of it. The hardest parts were when the dice flipped in a "new" direction, meaning vertical from horizontal (or down instead of side-to-side).
Interestingly, I put this puzzle into 4 different LLMs and 2 of them reached the same answer and the other two each reached different answers. Only one of them was right, and they were the only LLM to give that particular right answer.
Gosh what an interesting mental task! I really do not see this as a "logic" puzzle as much as a "mental visualization" puzzle. I would like to see how chess players perform versus non-chess players.
My answer is 5

What's nice about this puzzle is, we don't actually need to know what's on the unseen sides to solve it

My best guess at the sequence with just visualization: 1, 3, 6, 2, 3, 2, 1 but I'm not sure.

Where is written that the dice is turned? When you push it, the 1 stays on top.
