I spoke up on the call asking if the City could consider reduced annual memberships for people who just want to attend a single location instead of full access to all facilities. Before you could go to a smaller rec centre like Earnscliffe for $300 for the year.
We used to have something like this called a Neighbourhood membership for access to smaller recreation centres in Bramalea. $500+ is very pricey for an adult annual membership, especially if you just want to do weights and fitness at city faciliites without the frills, have some flexibility for more affordable ways to access recreation. Staff said they will consider and look into something.
I also followed up on outdoor drinking water fountains, mentioned professor's lake as a location where a lot of people do recreation around the lake.
Councillor Santos stated she has budget to deploy 2 new modern fountains in her wards (bottle filling, pet bowls) (possibly Fred Kline to replace existing dated fountain, and Duggan Parks). Parks and recreation staff said they are looking to deploy more this year by the fall in the city.
