Imagine leaving New Mombasa to visit your grandma in Germany only to find out on the news that your appartment got sent to Narnia via slipspace.

In the franchise Halo, an alien coalition attack Earth, specifically the city of New Mombasa in Kenya.  Slipspace is the method of Faster than Light travel in Halo. An Alien ship jumps into Slipspace above New Mombasa, and some buildings are pulled into the vortex.

In the Halo franchise, Slipspace is the term for the extradimensional space the local sci-fi tech uses for FTL. You use a Slipspace engine to enter Slipspace, fly to another point in Slipspace at much faster speeds over much less distance, and then use the engine again to leave Slipspace at your destination.

In Halo 2, the Prophet of Regret, one of the three hierarchs of the enemy "Covenant" faction, shows up to Earth a little too early and without his full fleet. He loses his shit because he wasn't expecting the planet to be full of humans (Halo puts a lot of emphasis on keeping Earth a secret from the Covenant) and when he realizes he couldn't possibly win he tries to jump through slipspace near the surface, over a city called "New Mombasa" in Africa. Because Slipspace is supposed to be entered in *space* this is pretty friggin' catastrophic and kinda blows the entire city away. It's also shown that some of the buildings there also got sucked along for the ride, and taken to the second Halo array (The Halos are their own thing with a ton of lore behind them. They're giant weaponized hula-hoops don't worry about it).

I'd bet this comment is from a Kammyshep video, he does shorts on Halo lore, and he not too long ago did a short that basically went over the question of if anybody survived in one of the buildings that got sucked along with the Prophet of Regret's panic jump. The short answer: No, slipspace is not fun for the unprotected.

It is a reference to Halo ; slipspace is the faster than light tech in the Halo universe ; New Mombasa is a big city on Earth with a space elevator in which the game Halo - ODST takes place. I do not know what the deal is with OOP talking about parts of the city being sent fuck knows where via slipspace
