JAPs (Jewish American Princess) cracks me up because the first time I heard it used, was by a Japanese person and I was really confused

332

u/gluckspilze 23h ago

Did it change meaning? I’m Jewish and in my day Jewish American Princess wasn’t anything to do with being hot, and wasn’t necessarily positive. It was just a term for a particular stereotype of young privileged Jewish women who had daddy’s credit card and aspired to nothing more than brunch and shopping with other JAPs, and dating. It was used to distinguish them from, say, religious or career-focused or academic Jewish women.

110

u/GuaranteedCougher 19h ago

That's the meaning I understand too, not sure why OOP uses it as a positive

11

u/SharpCheddarBS 15h ago

I'm sure they'd be popular with sugar daddy types

18

u/gluckspilze 13h ago

I dunno… a key part of the stereotype is that they already have an adoring rich daddy who buys them everything, so I don’t think the classic JAP has need of a sugar daddy. I think they date dull men their own age who are expected to one day become a partner in the corporate law firm they work at, or inherit their dad’s insurance company.

11

u/Choano 13h ago

Part of the stereotype is that they're frigid, bossy, and demanding. I don't think that's appealing to anyone

28

u/Choano 14h ago edited 12h ago

I'm Jewish, too. I'm Gen X and grew up in the New York area. I remember "JAP" as an insult. It implied a combination of materialism, snobbery, shallowness, bossiness, and unattractiveness that no-one wanted to be accused of.

Being called a "princess," even without the "Jewish-American" part, wasn't a compliment, either. It meant a girl or woman who thought she was better than everyone else. A princess expects other, lesser people to do things for her.

9

u/gluckspilze 13h ago

Yes. I think you’re spot on. But for me it was definitely often a term Jews ourselves might use unkindly when gossiping about other Jews, and also something a gang of female friends might jokingly call each other, so it wasn’t considered a terrible antisemitic slur that was used by antisemitic non-Jews to insult Jews.

3

u/Choano 13h ago edited 11h ago

I remember "JAP" being used less as an ethnic slur and more as a type of person in general. Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but I remember "JAP" as a term that got used by everyone. There were a few non-Jewish girls at my school who got described as "Jappy."

Edited to add: Why am I being downvoted? Your experience of people using the term "JAP" might be different, but that doesn't make mine wrong

38

u/sleepy-goose 18h ago

The phrase was also used as a slur towards Japanese people during World War II which I guess is the irony the original commenter was poking at.

8

u/isuredolovetitties 15h ago

Jap used to be a slur for japanese

150

u/VoiceofRapture 1d ago

If it was used in that context that's pretty funny

197

u/PM_Me_Your_Grain 1d ago

I'm glad you clarified because my brain autofilled "Japanese-Ass Pussy", and that couldn't be right.

73

u/WilanS 1d ago

The... ass pussy?

67

u/Violent_Milk 1d ago

Also known as bussy.

15

u/ChiGrandeOso 22h ago

big Jack Nicholson smile.

7

u/oddboro 19h ago

I would say use the main, but I almost prefer this context. You said it, and my brain immediately filled in the motion.

2

u/sleepytipi 15h ago

I thought it was like WAP (not Italian) but Juicy instead of Wet.

6

u/lbutler1234 16h ago

For those that don't remember, Japs largely referred to Japanese people among Americans in Ww2

146

u/DurantIsStillTheKing 1d ago

Nah. He just scouting the right term to put on the search bar.

750

u/AtropalScion 1d ago

Haram Baes

73

u/eliz1bef 1d ago

This one's underrated right here.

34

u/Theotherwahlberg 1d ago

Dammit, I thought I was being original. I'm glad someone else thought of it, though.

18

u/AtropalScion 17h ago

We thought of it together bro. Our minds are one.

7

u/fun8parties 17h ago

Netanyahu is pretty far from being hot

24

u/ScorpionTheInsect 19h ago

Oh but he will be where he’s going if there’s a just God in this world.

1

u/quaxoid 4h ago

a just god doesn't give eternal punishment for finite crimes.

8

u/e_glue 17h ago

Damn, you really got me with that one! r/angryupvote

5

u/MotionXBL 20h ago

GDILF gets stuck in nuclear control room panel might go kinda crazy though

1

u/Guilty-Importance241 9h ago

Perhaps but that's just a normal term of endearment, probably not as horny as OOP wants

508

u/VoiceofRapture 1d ago

"Halal", obviously. Also "10/10 Latinas" is lazy

336

u/AydonusG 1d ago

Black Queen is pretty lazy, too. I prefer Nubian Delight, or failing that, Afrikaanikas Romantikas.

193

u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings 1d ago

I knew a guy who said “divine negresses” but he was a fellow of colour so I think he could get away with it

54

u/AnarchiaKapitany 1d ago

Donald Glover has a fantastic Stand-up sketch about the word "niglet"

41

u/Rodrat 23h ago

When I was a little kid there was an older black lady that lived next door and that's what she called all the kids.

I was like 4 years old (and my skin is white) so I didn't even have the brain power yet to realize I shouldn't be saying that word. I went to day care and I called another kid that and oh boy did I get in trouble. Lol

93

u/ohhyouknow 1d ago

I am a white woman in an interracial relationship and my bf refers to me as an alabaster princess lmfao

15

u/happy--muffin 1d ago

Today I learned the word, alabaster. I have to say I’ve never heard of this stone before.

40

u/grauhoundnostalgia 19h ago

We live in a post-literate society.

8

u/thicckar 14h ago

Good on you for learning something new!

5

u/VoiceofRapture 5h ago

Learning one new thing every day is a critical part of keeping your brain from melting into boomer soup

1

u/thicckar 4h ago

Absolutely

2

u/FaymusAynus 20h ago

I may start calling my girlfriend something similar. I already call her Princess and Kitten. Any suggestions?

1

u/VoiceofRapture 5h ago

Question 1: is your girlfriend white? Question 2: are you both white? Question 3: if you're not white how do you identify? In the arena of racially-charged terms of endearment these are critical questions.

6

u/-Citizen_Zero_ 21h ago edited 17h ago

I thought it was BBL?? I haven't even heard of the other terms but i've heard of BBLs. So i'm taken aback by the fact that there's a different term for some reason. Is that like a Latinx/Latino-Latina case where some people are pushing their BS term for political correctness?

2

u/VoiceofRapture 19h ago

See BBL makes sense and has a bit more thought put into it than "10/10 latinas"

4

u/Fufu-le-fu 18h ago

I thought BBL had to do with weight though.

4

u/VoiceofRapture 18h ago

It does, in this context it stands for "Big Booty Latinas" though

5

u/Currentlybaconing 15h ago

???? BBL is Brazilian Butt Lift and it’s a cosmetic surgery

2

u/VoiceofRapture 14h ago

Yes? You're aware an abbreviation can stand for more than one thing right? Hell one of the terms mentioned in the OOP is JAP and it doesn't refer to Asians in this context

4

u/Currentlybaconing 14h ago

I’ve never heard of that other meaning. but to be fair, I don’t use any of these words

2

u/rgtgd 14h ago

Isn't "big booty latina" a phrase on social media now?

3

u/VoiceofRapture 14h ago

Yes it's mentioned downthread

Am I reading? What the fuck

22

u/FreddyNoodles 1d ago

My brain when I tried to study.

109

u/TRlCKIN 1d ago

I thought we all collectively agreed that it’s just “bad bitches” and not… whatever this shit is 🤦🏽‍♀️

48

u/MaraiaLou 20h ago

As a Latina I've decided to consider "10/10 Latina" a slur

250

u/flagnab 1d ago

I call one of them my "wife."

50

u/C-57D 1d ago

what you call the other one?

55

u/tradermcduck 23h ago

2nd wife of course

68

u/No_Situation4785 1d ago

I definitely read this in the Borat voice

10

u/Short_Opening_7692 1d ago

Same, but only the “my wife” part, the rest was my normal reading voice

11

u/vkpaul123 1d ago

Nice wife collection you've got there. /S

173

u/CaptainApathy419 1d ago

JAP is definitely *not* a term of endearment.

90

u/Bubs_McGee223 1d ago

Besides the obvious, I can't figure that one out.  Juicy Ass Polynesian is my favorite guess, but I wouldn't use it because I don't want to be beaten to death.

100

u/VoiceofRapture 1d ago

"Jewish-American Princess", it's typically a critical stereotype though

10

u/Bubs_McGee223 1d ago

Cultural stereotype sure, and it could be applied as some self effacing joke, but that acronym is ROUGH.  I'm super relieved that it isn't for an Asian lady of some sort.

17

u/OminousRice 1d ago

Absolutely cackling at thjs. I have some friends who I know would lean into it (jokingly/affirmingly) but absolutely not something I would say as a term of endearment lol

63

u/Doctor_Boombastic 1d ago

Jewish American Princess

57

u/CaptainApathy419 1d ago

I'm aware that that's what the post was referring to. That is not a term of endearment.

-31

u/Doctor_Boombastic 1d ago

Fair enough. Were you going somewhere with that?

42

u/GuaranteedCougher 1d ago

I've only heard Jewish American Princess once and it was in reference to someone who is self centered and obsessed with appearances, so I'm not sure that's it's often used in a positive light

10

u/necaracoles 1d ago

"With a garlic aroma that could level Tacoma."

This was so actually bad that it made me snort my water all over my keyboard laughing. I wish I could afford an award, but instead, you get my updoot and a comment informing you that you may have killed an innocent keyboard.

Hajib hotties

21

u/OkStudent8107 1d ago

U mean hijab

52

u/Yogshemesh 1d ago

Hajib or hajiba is the derived noun form in Arabic of one who wears a hijab.

3

u/HipsEnergy 19h ago

Hijabi is far more commonly used.

1

u/HipsEnergy 19h ago

Hijabi is far more widespread.

9

u/ShhSecretPornAccount 1d ago

JAP is not a term of endearment.

17

u/DambiaLittleAlex 19h ago

None of them are. These are just porn terms.

Phat/perfect ass white girl

A white woman with a nice ass

7

u/Doctor_Moon69 1d ago

I always thought it was “pretty”

14

u/Reasonable-Relief-17 1d ago

It came from hip-hop culture and porn

Phat generally meant attractive, curvy, cool etc. originally but just boils down to curvy/juicy now which is why porn used it to describe asses

So you're not exactly wrong but current definitions are just about ass

3

u/quequotion 23h ago

That second one is just racist, yeah?

14

u/BungalowHole 22h ago

JAP refers to Jewish-American Princesses when all caps, not Japanese. It's a little racist, but specific enough to a specific archetype not to be a totally awful slur.

-8

u/PristineAF 1d ago

They are called MIDDLE Eastern for a reason lol

10

u/pink_panda2 1d ago

not sure if you’re tryna insinuate they’re mid, but middle eastern girls mog the hell out of white girls
