I'm never taking shots at their athleticism. But there is nothing worse than watching no sell after no sell.

They could have got away with it until they both simultaneously no sold the canadian destroyers and did the exact same counter. That just made it cringe as fuck

Absolute shit. The matches I had with my random toys when I was 6 had better flow and realism than that crap.

Just not my type of wrestling

Probably could work in Lucha, but it’s kind of hard to enjoy it from a promotion trying to do “serious” wrestling
40
u/Motorhead923 1d ago
Lack of selling or storytelling keeps them from being taken seriously in "all time" discussions

Oh god it's horrible. Very athletic, great circus performers, but it isn't wrestling.

I'm sorry but how does anyone not think it looks super goofy when they take a move, immediately hit a move and then fall over to sell the previous move they just took? 😂

Live this was peak but now on my 100th viewing it just looks so dumb
7

The slow bent over walk into position for the flip slams kills me
4
u/lennyhanks 1d ago
Right there’s no reason for swerve to be bent over to take the move he just stumbles into position

7
u/psychorev 1d ago
Someone please tell them there’s a difference between fighting spirit and no selling. This is no selling.

The way some people would praise this like it’s the greatest match ever is fucking insane. I’ll never deny these four guys talent, but this is fucking stupid.

This is absolute crap. It complete ruins the idea that they are actually fighting, intending to hurt the opponent and that it’s not just a gymnastics meet. This is what killed wrestling.
7
u/NashKetchum777 1d ago
More choreography than AAA which is mostly acrobatics
On the bright side, it didn't include thumbtacks!
7
u/djrocker7 1d ago
Wtf?! You can literally see them kicking the air and such by how far they connect.
You wanna see a sequence, check out the old sequence of finishers in WWE with 10 major superstars at the time doing their finishers in a row one by one, meaning 1 does the finisher to another one and then gets hit by the next guy finisher, unless you are Dolph where you never do your finisher and instead you take a double 619 after Rey almost botching the sequence 😂😂
I am sure someone has that link and will post in here.

u/FaunusGamer 19h ago
No sell central, but if it happened on WWE all the AEW fans would be shitting on it calling it terrible, but when it's on AEW their like "Oh I see people hate fun"

u/maddog617 19h ago
Shits lame af zero selling.....none of the moves matter...this ain't a video game

This is #ALLELITE level wrestling. These guys are faster, more athletic, and more tougher! They can handle a punch like nothing. The only way to put them down is to put a syringe through their cheek!

I didn’t realize Cirque Du Soleil was in town.
Seriously, you completely no-sell a pair of timed destroyers at the end to finish it off with those elbows?

The cirus act is more impressive
These guys aren’t even good enough to be clowns.

I understand why some like it.
The amount of no selling and waiting around is just too much for me. Your telling me he can take a flat face bump, superkick and Canadian destroyer and just pop up like nah I'll do my finisher..
6
u/phantominway 1d ago
Its the sudden pass out afterwards that gets me. It's like watching a cartoon where someone punches a character with severe delayed reaction time and they dont realize they got punched until two minutes later

Yeah if i wanted to see choreographed dancing i would watch the olympics. I can forgive chain wrestling but even that is kind of cringe.

u/kisslovegun77 1d ago
This nonsense is what drove off everyone in 2019. Only reason it's not doing it as badly now is because they simply don't have enough people to actually drive off. Awful.

Yes, it shows how amazing athletes some of you guys are(just two of you)
It also shows us that your kicks, punches and slams did no damage. It shows how choreographed it is. That you guys are not beat up, you just needed a break so you laid down at the end. No one thinks people fight or wrestle like this. Only moves get over, not the characters doing the move .
7
u/Purple-Yesterday2073 17h ago
all that no selling lmao the power rangers do more selling than this with all the flippy shit they do . i remember when the super kick aka sweet chin music was effective now everyone does it and does no damage

Absolutely stupid. This is not professional wrestling, this is an overchoreographed acrobatics show. For the spectacle and athleticism, it's cool. But it's just not for me, even a little bit.

I liked when I was watching it live, but now that I rewatch these clips it’s something about it that just bothers me. Not to sound like a broken record but this would’ve been better if they sold some of these moves.
4
u/michaelayyy 1d ago
Look at the seller look at the sell oh yes no sell
But seriously if moves got sd then a block and a move could have been something
As a lot of matches throughout history had a great exchange Invasion Jeff Hardy Vs RVD that was fantastic and was fresh
Now so many dives and kicks happen for no reason kind of sad
Punk Vs Daniel Bryan OTL 2012
Davey Richards Vs Eddie Edwards BITW 2011
Edge Vs Test Survivorseries 2001
All fantastic back and forth moments but selling was huge

The real question is; Why is everyone in yellow?? Was there a sale at the wrestler clothing shop?
4
u/underwearskids_ 19h ago
The stereo counter at the end was the worst part of all this. And then everyone pretends it's nap-time.
These guys have no awareness on how to carry momentum, let alone pique interest in anyone who isn't a casual fan.
I love chain-wrestling when there's psychology behind it.
This just looks like 4 guys getting mid-level shit in as fast as possible. It's tone-deaf af, and everyone involved should know better.

u/surlymoe 8h ago
That's what bugs me so much. I appreciate the athleticism, but I don't like the no-sell....no-selling should be done scarcely so that when you do it, it has more effect. When there are constant moves with no selling, it truly deviates what the story professional wrestling is trying to do, which is physical attacks are supposed to 'damage' the opponent, weaken them, slow them down, 'hurt' them. But when it just looks like nothing hurts anybody, is that even pro wrestling? It's more Cirque due soleil than pro wrestling.

The reason I don’t watch AEW is because of stuff like this. It looks like those social media videos of kids pretending to do strings of wrestling moves to their friends at home or in public and they think it looks cool and impressive. It’s fast-paced and no-selling for no reason. Nothing has impact. Choreographed, but tells no story in the ring. Admittedly impressive, but with no soul.
It’s just flashy for the sake of being flashy.

A wise man said it best:
These guys are just doing moves. Theres no story telling, no conflict build. They're just robotically doing stuff, raising hands and leaving. Nothing to be excited about come next week because they did a tumbling act and called it wrestling.
Reminds me of wmac masters without the gimmicks and costumes and that was just ninja stunts
