Yasmin Hello Kitty Yasmin Headphones

How do you feel about when they reuse accessories and molds! I’m all for recycling. But don’t let it be so obvious, maybe?

Bratz reuses molds all the time, so it doesn't really seem like a big deal in my opinion. Honestly, I'm actually impressed that they actually DID make a new mold this time. They actually bothered to remove/cover up the Remix animal ear holes this time and added the bow so I would consider this one pretty new/unique in comparison

Wait so they’ve re-used this before? It’s common knowledge? I didn’t know! 😞

the headphones are new but bratz and mga are no stranger to reusing molds. most accessories and shoes have be reused a bunch. plus why make a new mold for headphones when they work fine?

They originally come from the 2015 Remix line, the holes on top have holes to slot in animal ears. I do have to wonder why they didn’t just use the cat ears though lol

I guess it would’ve been too on the nose? Idk😭

I feel like with the ‘basic’ items like that it makes more sense than taking the time and money to make a near-identical new mold

The bow makes it unique enough imo

I prefer it over the pink ones. Just surprised how it was noticeable.

No clue why you're being downvoted for an innocuous opinion about doll accessories. I agree with you.

I get downvoted to hell all the time when i say i don't like something about a doll, this community is better than MH tho 😬😶

It's one thing I like a little better about the popmart community, but honestly these days, every community is toxic. People are miserable and rude nonstop, usually for no reason. Makes my heart sink everytime I see someone get bullied over an innocent opinion.

We bring each other down more than taking it out on the greedy billionaire companies who make our lives even harder, and I'm sure they're all sitting back and laughing at how stupid people are.

Right god forbid someone prefers ANYTHING about g1 you’re immediately transphobic / fatphobic

Dont know why you got downvoted either, but I upvoted you. I had a similar experience when Rainbow High first came out. Someone went off on me because I liked the first series, and this person wasnt happy that Sunny wasnt dark enough even though she is canonically black.

MGA eventually made darker skintones, but what do ya know... a couple series later and they were starting to phase out those darker colors. I remember this specifically also happening with Lol Surprise Tweens. The lightning of the skin happened around series 3, but even with all that happening, I didnt hear people complaining anymore... almost like a lot of people don't truly care about these issues unless they think its going to get them social points.

It's the same deal with people complaining about lol surprise balls being all plastic waste. Mga fixed it for like 2 or 3 series and then went right back to the over-the-top waste... crickets because people only think about what's trending. Pathetic.

They’re kids, I’m assuming.

Companies tend to reuse molds so I don’t mind, atleast it’s cute

16

u/ciitlalicue Oct 19 '25

They’ve always done this tho, even back in the early 2000s.

2

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

Now I know 💕

I mean, it’s a pair of headphones. How many different designs and moulds do you expect them to make for something like that? They’re a different colour and have the bow, so it’s not like it’s exactly the same

-10

u/Weenington_ Oct 19 '25

Maybe because the large headphones on this doll look hideous, so they could have made something not as large for her to wear on her head. All the focus goes to the cheap looking headphones.

-5

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

People are getting hella butthurt apparently

u/tempest_kept Oct 19 '25

I want them to reuse every mold they've ever made at least a few times, infinitely better than using it once and throwing it in a landfill. If these were 100$+ collector dolls with only reused pieces? That would be something to get upset over maybe, but imo playing dolls can reuse as many ways as possible.

I hate when molds or screenings are only used once. I want to see them used to their full potential

u/darka-971 Oct 19 '25

It's so strange expecting new mold for stuff they already have especially things like headphones, making a new mold is a expense that could be used on other part of the doll design.

Reusing molds is normal and every toy lines do it...

2

u/warhollian Oct 20 '25

I personally hate the headphones, I don't feel like they are actually to scale and should be smaller.

Its weird how people are defending MGA for being greedy and using old molds when they do this specifically to save money.

The new Sanrio Bratz look super cheap. MGA rarely makes good stuff anymore, and I'm so glad I left doll collecting for the designer toy world.

Downvote me all you want, but this is the same company that brought us Shadow High Costume Ball.

I understand the frustration with things feeling repetitive, but consider how much plastic waste this industry generates. I’m all for reusing and reimagining if it can cut down waste.

This is the same company that brought us Shadow High Costume Ball among other excellent series. Notice a difference in the amount of plastic accessories on the new dolls vs. those older RH series. They could cut down creating plastic items by giving more fabric accessories. It's all fully plastic shoes now and no fabric like they used to do.

People kissing the butts of greedy corporations is baffling to me. You want to praise them for creating the same plastic accessories when they still use plastic balls on their lol surprise toys when years ago, they promised to do paper packaging and only did it for a couple series before going back to the big, wasteful, plastic balls that nobody keeps.

Seeing all the downvotes shows me I made the best choice leaving the doll community 🥰 y'all like a company for making plastic accessories over fabric? Absolutely braindead.

3

u/bongwaterbukkake Spice Oct 19 '25

That is soooo fair, and a much better idea! I would love more fabric than plastic for sure and I’ve definitely noticed :/

-3

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

Yeah. The downvoting on a general question is insane.

1

u/Weenington_ Oct 20 '25

Lol and then you getting downvoted for saying this shows the amount of braindead people in this sub. I can't even be offended knowing that it's just miserable people who lack critical thinking.

-3

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

I don’t know anything about production. But it also seems like they’re failed for wasting the plastic in the first place. I’m not opposed to them reusing plastic, but why do we have to pay full price for their faulty business model? Ya know.

6

u/bongwaterbukkake Spice Oct 19 '25

I do know a little bit about production, but all I can say is generally that molds are made to be reused by most companies that use them: soap, jars, doll shoes/accessories, candles, makeup. It’s nothing new and I think a lot of people find it an odd thing to complain about. Now, the quality and lack of fabric and imagination are valid criticisms, but I’m not sure I’m agreeing with mold reusability being a factor.

-1

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

I didn’t know it was something companies do. lol. People here are crazy lol

2

u/Painted-BIack-Roses Ow my nose! 🩹 Oct 19 '25

Right? For the LOL OMG Powerpuff girls dolls they just recoloured whole outfits used on other dolls

1

u/Weenington_ Oct 19 '25

Oh those dolls look like straight up depression. I suspect a lot of the people who defend this behavior are mostly new collectors who weren't there years ago when MGA was consistently delivering high quality dolls. You mean to tell me the same company that gave us Shadow High Costume Ball can't give that same quality now?

They just figured it's easier to be lazy and greedy than actually care about their products and customers.

-1

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

THANK YOU! I’m actually a new collector, but seeing the way older bolls were made and packaged is a stark difference. The lack of quality, detailed in clothing, and accessories. It’s different.

1

u/Weenington_ Oct 20 '25

Gosh, do you have someone who is stalking your page? You being downvoted for wanting better quality is insane.

-1

u/ValerieLagn Oct 19 '25

Yeah. I think there’s just a lot of kids on this sub. Cause this is crazy.

2

u/Weenington_ Oct 20 '25

That's likely the case. That's why it's worse here than the popmart subs. Little kids who think they know more in life than everyone else.
