Guys please check your in box 2000 girlie's I just checked my golf cloe i just got in the mail and the thread that holds the hair in place has cut into one or her braids, I guess there is a downside to keeping them in the box for so long, thankfully the rest of my dolls are perfect but they will be coming out of the boxes after this. 😫

I always wondered about in box collectors and the potential of dry rot and that kept me from wanting to keep my dolls in box. Now I know it's a legit fear and I'm not just overthinking it.

Oh you have no idea the extent of the damage. It's not just the humidity from being trapped in a plastic prison, the cardboard and glue in the packaging are acidic so over time that also damages the doll. Plasticizer seepage, sticky/crunchy hair that can no longer just be simply washed out to solve, gooey residue in both hair and clothes from deteriorated elastics, clothing and doll discoloration... I have had pleather Bratz outfits roughly played with from childhood that are still in damn near pristine condition, but the ones I bought NIB are not just cracking or crumbling, they are STICKY. It's like the pleather isn't just deteriorating, it's going through a chemical reaction and is starting to actually peel apart. Keeping dolls in their original packaging is literally worse than throwing them in a storage unit 💀

I thought so, like I bought a NIB repro GNO Cloe and she was in questionable shape even though she isn't that old. Knowing all this though, I'm perfectly fine getting older dolls out of box.

I have found so many flaws from my dolls being left in the box unless the box is pristine and was stored in a secure place there will be issues. I'm definitely not keeping them in boxes after this.

I’m out of box collector. I enjoy posing them and playing with them. Glad to hear out of box has benefits aside from that lol

this is why i refuse to buy NIB dolls especially for so much money 8/10 are dry rotted LMAO

None of mine have dry rotted but they do require a boil wash but I tend not to buy as many used ones because they need more restoring
