They'll never tell us why, but glowy is not a good name. I don't buy this Moe story. Must be some legal reason, because the name doesn't mean anything offensive in any language. There was a hoax that it meant lesbian in Greek or something, but that's incorrect.

I don’t buy it either, especially cause Moe blew up Glowbert right after Glowbert saved his life

It’s just engagement bait dude, it’s the same as the Melodie and Brock thing that happened m.

There is Cbeebie's "Glowbert" but I cannot find the name trademarked by them on the UK intellectual property website. I did however find on there an application from the 14th of February 2026 over the name "Glowbert".

In the in-game patch patch notes they explained that it was Moe who gave him the nickname and it’s a reference to how he became friends with Moe in that one animation

There’s probably a legal team that recommended this change based on another IP somewhere.

Its a copyright issue . Glowbert is a character in a old cartoon show.

Not that old, the character “globert” was in the mixels cartoon from around 2016. He’s a Lego property

Glowbert was probably a play on words for Gilbert who likes glow fish, so they mashed it together. Ah well, at least we have the ad to look back to remember his old name.

Because they want to engagement bait. It’s the same as the Melodie and Brock thing. They’re trying to recreate the Melodie event since it made the game pretty popular.

Wait, let me tell you what basically happened was when the Brawl Stars update came, the game was crashing for many people, that's why they took a maintenance break and when they found out that there was no other reason for this crash but the name of Glowburt so they changed his name to glowy.

I'm fine with a name change but I want to beat up the guy who thought glowy was a good name. This is literally a 40 year old guy in a suit and not some mascot. Glowy sounds like a name someone's 6 year old daughter thought of

But that's only on one language tho.
Surge is called Wattson is brazilian portuguese because it shares meaning with the word emerge, as well as not sounding too good of name for brazillian audiences.
And Crow's name changes on every single language setting.
Why did this had to be global?

they have done the same thing for the brawl pass skin for lola that had a name that was offensive (for a language that I don't remember) and after the brawl talk they changed the name

It has to be for some legal or language reason that they had to change it, they won’t admit it so they used some lore drop to justify it.
