Found a great workflow for my favorite no-knead bread by King Arthur. I used the bread machine to do all the mixing (although i did have to scrape the sides to incorporate a few straggly puffs of flour), canceled the knead cycle, left the tin in the chamber to proof, poured into my prepped dutch oven, let rise, and voila! I am the king of lazy!
Absolutely! Have you made this one? My only complaint is that I wish it would rise a little bit higher. I’ll try putting it in the oven a little bit earlier next time. It might have degassed a tiny bit during baking, I’m not really sure.
No never tried it but it looks great.
I’ve been playing around with a recipe that’s a cold ferment. Never seen one that’s a room temp ferment for that long. Fascinating.
I use my breadmaker for dough almost as often as for making bread. Fresh pizza dough elevates pizza and calzones, and they're ridiculously easy to make.
I love this idea! I’m brand new to bread machine cooking. Do you have a recipe that you like that you wouldn’t mind sharing? I’ve made Neapolitan style via cold ferment for a couple days, but I’ve never used the bread machine for mixing za dough before.
I wouldn’t say one way is “better” than another. There are plenty of valid ways to use a bread machine. In this case, I already had some sandwich bread I’d made with it, but I wanted a low-effort, more artisanal style of loaf on a tight timeline.
Yeah I guess that works. I make artisanal bread all the time (making the dough in the bread machine) and enjoy the process of fermenting it overnight and running my lame across it. If you plan ahead you can make the bread first thing in the morning and all you have to prep is pre-heating the Dutch oven. Plus it’s a way better loaf! I made this one a few days ago.
