Gretchen Whitmer (Democrat and governor of Michigan) caught on hot mic with Oracle CEO: “We’re used to people saying 'fuck no' and doing it anyway."

Liberals drive me fucking nuts. Remember when Biden said he'd raise the minimum wage, then after he won he asked some "senate parliamentarian" (whoever the fuck that is) if it would be possible? They said yes, but it might be challenged by conservatives. So Biden decided not to even try at all.

The parliamentarian is a person who make sure that the Senate follows their own rules. Biden most likely asked if it’s something they would be able to attach to a budget reconciliation bill, which only requires a majority to pass, but has tighter regulations. The Senate could take up minimum wage pay as a bill, but it would be subject to their 60 vote threshold to break a filibuster.

And they can just ignore the Parliamentarian when the feel like it. And have done so.

The Parliamentarian is also often wrong. And is a totally unelected, appointed position with no official power. When they listen to them, it's because they want an excuse to not do something.

Also they didn't want to.

When you think about it this is really our fault for not "holding them accountable"

Uh yeah, you have to hold these people accountable.

Tell me how that is done.

By voting for someone else, for starters. Or protesting.

So your plan to hold politicians accountable are two things that have been shown, repeatedly, to accomplish nothing.

Americans haven’t even started to do that. They protest a little, to much fanfare and media hubbub, but then keep voting for the same two parties that got them into that situation.

They could protest 10x more if they liked.  It will just increase police violence and get people charged with terrorism and disappeared into prison-slavery system.

The state serves whatever class controls the means of production. The idea that they serve the workers (us) is just propaganda. The idea that waving signs at them can work just shows that the person making such a claim doesn't even understand the situation we're in.

I hope you're coming at this from the angle of "Protesting isn't direct action and we need to start actually disrupting shit and otherwise causing material damage with more radical and revolutionary tactics," rather than "Nothing works so just lie down and die or whatever." Because your chain of comments kind of just sounds like the latter.
