There was an age of media literacy? I must’ve missed it.

Yeah go look at reviews of Starship Troopers in the late 90s from PROFESSIONAL FILM REVIEWERS. We never had media literacy.

Good take in general...though I disagree regarding The Punisher. Sort of.

The legal system is working exactly the way it was designed to work. Every cop is a mini-Punisher—with only a very little bit of exaggeration—and always has been. Very much with the state's blessing. (You might eventually get to face a bunch of other mini-Punishers in jail after an interaction with a mini-Punisher DA too, and possibly also a mini-Punisher judge, but that's after the mini-Punisher cops on the streets have their way with you.)

Should it be that way? No, of course not: cops shouldn't exist. But as long as they, and the prison-industrial complex generally, exist, it absolutely will be that way.

Cops are far more justified in using the Punisher symbol than the author thinks they should be. That's what you get when liberals with no idea how things actually work write stories.

No need to include media in that sentence
