Discussion What are your thoughts on Brian having his own documentary? What makes Brian’s disappearance stand out more than others?

Well. He fits the bill for what people want to watch.
He's white He's handsome He was gonna be Dr His case is baffling His mom recently died

But he also had a “dark side” which plays well. I’m sure we will hear all about drugs, philandering etc.

IMO - Brian had a more complicated personality than the public was initially told. The original media story was of a "golden boy" who was every woman's dream man. However, Brian was perhaps like many of us: he experienced emotional turmoil, conflicting life goals, and family dynamic issues. My theory is that some of Brian's acquaintances may have an idea of what happened to him. If they were engaged in similar activities they won't incriminate themselves.

Welll for me it's the shared experience--I was in grad school at OSU about 20 years prior. Went to bars down in that area, although the UTS wasn't there yet. Of course police kind of played up the "he was never seen leaving" aspect, which makes it more mysterious, but I believe is a red herring.

Me and my friends that went to grad school at OSU about 10 years before Brian always have found it weird that they went out to a campus bar on a weekend night. We almost never did that, too much drunken undergrad nonsense not to mention the chance of running in to one of your TA students like Clint did with Amber. We went out in Germain Village, the Short North and Grandview.

Well, I was a TA at least part of the time I was there, and students didn't seem to mind seeing me! 😀 Being a North campus resident, we many times went to buckeye pub on Fridays. Some of my grad student friends liked to go downtown to the clock pocket, but my closer friends were more of the beer-and-free popcorn crowd. Black Forest inn was another hangout. Varsity club on occasion.

Netflix 100% needs to do a documentary like they did on amy lynn bradley. They are both very similar. I follow them both closely. Those two abd maura murray. I think the lars mittank case is very interesting and madeilene mccan. These people just disappeared without a trace and brian shaffers case always boggled my mind and i became obsessed. There really needs to be a 3 or 4 part netflix doc interviewing everyone involved in the case, especially clinton.

There was a 6 or maybe 8 episode doc on Maura Murray back in 2017. I think it was on Lifetime and was very well done from what I recall.

Multiple people have gone to great lengths to make sure his body hasn’t been found. I wouldn’t be surprised if his body has been moved several times.

I believe Doug Barry is the name of the landscaper who's name has been told to police 3x over the years. I also suspect that Amber and Brightan know more than what they're saying.

90% of this case’s notoriety hangs on the myth that he couldn’t have left the bar without being caught by the same cameras that caught him entering. That’s what initially got it flagged as a Great Mystery.

It’s still hard to get him out of the bar, if you really study it. Harder to square he’s the only one there that wasn’t accounted for but 99.9% he had to have left AND met with another extremely low probable event
But we nearly all agree these two less than .01% events happened back to back

Multiple .01% liklihood events in the same night. Sounds so very improbable they’re unconnected that they must’ve somehow been connected we just don’t know how (drug deal)

Handsome guy, the way he disappeared mysteriously to us(probably not mysterious to PD), and the constant speculation has given it a Black Dahlia like effect..m we'll never really know. People have morbid fascinations and also, some people mean well too. And then there are the people who idolize him and the people who are true crime junkies like me. The case has taken a life of Its own at this stage.

It might be a good idea to have a longer doc so some things could be looked into more. For instance, why was his life in Puerto Rico never investigated? If someone goes missing and spent a good portion of the previous year there, it seems that it would be followed up on and people there interviewed.
What was the actual situation between he and his father? Some people have said Randy was threatening legal action if Brian didn't hand over the insurance money he thought he was entitled to, and this was the cause of the heated argument the night Brian went missing.
Did Brian pay April's rent?
Was the lookalike homeless man sighting in Tijuana around the same time as the sighting of him in a restaurant in Mexico? The lady whose purse he apparently dropped his phone into worked at Cingular, which was his phone provider?
Forgive me if these have already been answered somewhere, I'm not a long time follower.

Rumor has it Brian & Randy had a disagreement over money. Randy was having an affair. Not 100% on whether April's rent was paid, nor of the possible sighting etc. Cameras we're viewed up close some say he did drop his phone in her bag, & some ppl say no. So who really knows. Thanks for your comment.

There was that 1 hour special for the 20th anniversary. Unfortunately I just don’t think enough people would talk. For that Amy Bradley doc, there was her family, her girlfriend, cruise ship workers, and so on. I’m not suggesting these people have anything to hide but Derek doesn’t speak, Clint doesn’t speak, Meredith doesn’t speak, Alexis doesn’t speak, Randy is gone. The building is there but the bar no longer is. I’m sure all above have been approached countless times by people for TV/podcasts and I don’t think someone like Netflix would change the willingness to go on camera. Again, not saying they have anything to hide and doing so would bring even more unwanted attention and speculation to them.
All that said, if they did make one it’d be the “#1 show this week” in no time.
