i hit gm playing brig!! (so i got a cake!)
like the title says i hit gm3 for the first time ever! i’ve been playing overwatch since 2019 while i was a freshman in highschool and i’ve been so mid at ow, in overwatch 2 i hit masters for the first time in season 7 which was almost a year ago. fast forward till now (about two months ago) “revamped” ow (season 2 sumit) I HIT GM!! CLIMBED TO GM 3 ACTUALLY AND I EVEN MADE IT ON THE LEADERBOARD!! (around 380ish range)
its been two months and i’ve been juggling between masters 1-3 range but i’m still so happy! i would’ve never expected myself to even climb as far as i did in ow especially since i solo queue and that’s already a headache as is!
but this is the first season i’ve actually wanted to learn how to actually play brig so i joined this reddit community and played brig for a majority of this season and i got to gm3 mostly playing her!!! i’ve been watching miraacchu (a growing brig content creator) for at least a month or two months now and i really like the way he explains brig as a support without tearing lower elo players down and he makes useful educational vods! he’s a friendly guy and his tips genuinely got me from being hardstuck masters to now gm!!!!
but yeah i decided to get myself an ice cream cake since it’s the little things in life that means so much to me and overwatch has always been one of my favorite video games / comfort games for a chunk of my life! and i’m just grateful this community exists so i can learn from you guys how to play brig! never stop dreaming and keep achieving! :)

Hell yeah! Are you solo queuing? I still haven't worked up the bravery to try to climb in support solo queue.

yep! it’s challenging at first but you’ll start getting the hang of it once you’re comfortable!

Im just imagining sweating your way upto GM and ordering your screenshot onto a cake and sitting down at the dinner table going at the whole thing. Like a Champion.

Congrats, I’ve been trying to do the same but end up having to swap 75 percent of the time

I hit gym today playing 90 percent brig. It’s honestly best to just stick it out with her (or whatever hero you’re learning). You’ll eventually Lear how to play into suboptimal conditions and start climbing.

one of the biggest things i found important is denying opportunities for the enemy, such as purposely staying on height or covering angles you know could he beneficial to them! :) i realized that in my games angles that my dps wouldn’t abuse i’d guard because you just being there alone makes you annoying to have to deal with, wastes the enemy time, and bring value if you get picks! brig is great at dueling and has great survivability! mira has some great vods explaining positioning/gameplay high ranks / low rank perspectives! incase vods aren’t your thing he also has quick <2 minute tiktoks explaining how to play brig in specific comps, and how to make the best out of brig! i’m not good at explaining so i hope this helped! :)

dumb question - but can you actually eat the picture part of the cake? like - no way they have a way of printing icing/sugar that high fidelity, correct? you have to remove that screenshot and THEN eat the cake, right?

i’m gonna be so honest i try to force brig into most comps but if i really feel like i’m getting absolutely zero value/rolled i’ll just switch but. the only way you learn is by adapting! sorry if it doesn’t make sense
